Full job description

The Integrate Agency CIC is looking for skilled grant writers to help us produce high-quality funding applications for UK charities, CICs and social enterprises.

We are a specialist outsourced fundraising consultancy based in London. Our core work is trusts and foundations fundraising, including grants strategy, funding pipelines, prospect research, cases for support, and strong applications to mostly UK grantmakers.

Our clients are usually small and medium-sized charities and social enterprises. They are often doing excellent work, but they do not always have the internal fundraising capacity to turn that work into clear, fundable applications.

We are looking for practical, reliable, writing-focused people who can turn a good brief into a strong draft and add value to our team.

This is not a senior strategy role. You will not be expected to design the whole fundraising strategy, lead client accounts, or build the delivery model from scratch. The Integrate team provides the central strategy, funder direction, briefing, templates, and quality control.

Your job is to help us get excellent grant-writing done.

About The Integrate Agency CIC

The Integrate Agency CIC has been recognised through seven consecutive years on the NatWest SE100 Index, and active membership of London Funders.

We are not a faceless bid-writing factory. We care about funder fit, clarity, ethics, evidence, and writing that sounds like the organisation it represents.

We are also realistic about how modern writing works. We expect good writers to use tools, including AI, intelligently. What matters is the quality, accuracy, and judgement of the final output.

What you will do

You will:

  • Draft grant applications, expressions of interest, letters of enquiry, and supporting narratives.
  • Work from briefs, notes, client materials, previous applications, and funder guidance.
  • Use The Integrate Agency CIC's templates, prompts, quality standards, and review process.
  • Turn rough or incomplete information into clear, structured, funder-facing copy.
  • Adapt tone and content for different trusts, foundations, and grant-makers.
  • Flag missing information, weak evidence, unclear outcomes, or budget issues.
  • Revise drafts in response to feedback.
  • Use AI tools responsibly to support drafting, structuring, summarising, and editing.
  • Keep accurate records of what you have drafted, changed, and queried.

What we are looking for

You do not need to be a senior fundraising leader. You do need to be a strong, reliable writer.

You will be a good fit if you have:

  • Experience writing grant, bid, or funding applications for charities, CICs, social enterprises, or mission-led organisations.
  • Strong written English and the ability to produce clear, specific, persuasive copy.
  • A good understanding of UK trusts, foundations, or grant-making.
  • The ability to follow a brief and work within an established methodology.
  • Good judgement about what information is missing or weak.
  • Confidence using AI tools to support writing, while checking accuracy and avoiding generic copy.
  • The ability to accept editorial feedback.
  • Good attention to funder criteria, word counts, and deadlines.
  • The right to work in the UK.

This role is probably not right for you if

  • You dislike working to clients' house style, or quality standards.
  • Your experience is only generic marketing copywriting with no grant or bid-writing exposure.
  • Your bid-writing experience is only in commercial tendering and you are not interested in UK charity grants.
  • You rely on AI to generate unsupported claims, invented evidence, or generic filler
  • You are uncomfortable having your drafts reviewed and edited.

AI and writing

We are AI-positive but quality-obsessed. We expect writers to use modern tools intelligently, but every final draft must be accurate, specific, funder-aligned, and human-reviewed.

You may use AI to help with structure, sometimes first-pass drafting, summarising notes, improving clarity, and testing whether copy answers funder criteria.

You must not use AI to invent evidence, fabricate impact, create unsupported claims, or put confidential client information into tools where that is not permitted.

AI can make a good writer faster. It does not make a weak bid writer good.

Pay and working pattern

The role is paid at £30 per hour.

We expect to offer 15 to 30 hours per week, depending on your availability, quality of work, and our client pipeline.

This is steady, interesting work across a range of charities and social enterprises. It is suited to someone who wants regular writing work without having to constantly find their own clients.

Recruitment process

The process will include:

1 Indeed application and screening questions.

2 Review of your CV and any writing sample.

3 Short introductory call.

4 Paid writing task using a fictional charity brief.

5 Final discussion and references.

We welcome applications from people with different routes into fundraising, bid writing, and charity work. We are happy to make reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process.

Required qualifications

Use these in the Indeed qualification fields where possible.

  • Grant writing or bid writing.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Experience drafting funding applications.
  • Understanding of UK charities, CICs, social enterprises, or mission-led organisations.
  • Communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Preferred qualifications

Use these only as preferred, not required.

  • Trusts and foundations fundraising.
  • Experience with UK charitable trusts and foundations.
  • Prospect research.
  • Case for support development.
  • National Lottery or grant-maker application experience.
  • AI-assisted writing workflow.
  • Charity CRM or pipeline tracking experience.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: £27.50-£30.00 per hour

Application question(s):

  • This role is paid at £30 per hour. Is this acceptable to you?
  • How do you use AI in writing work, if at all?
  • How many hours per week would you ideally like to work?
  • In 100 words or fewer, what makes a grant application weak?

Experience:

  • bid writing trust / foundations funding applications: 2 years (required)

Work authorisation:

  • United Kingdom (preferred)

Work Location: Remote
