Online Mentor – Player Ready Alternative Provision

Fully remote | 10–37 hours per week | Flexible

Make a real difference — one session at a time.

Are you passionate about digital creativity? Do you want to use those skills to support children and young people who learn differently? We’d love to hear from you.

About Player Ready

Player Ready delivers creative digital learning to children and young people with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) and SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs). Through our Alternative Provision, we teach a vast range of digital skills including coding, game design, video creation and 3D modelling in a supportive, inclusive environment — online and at our UK venues.

The role

We’re looking for personable, reliable and skilled Online Mentors to deliver engaging 1:1 sessions that build digital skills and, just as importantly, confidence and trust. You will:

  • Deliver fully online 1:1 sessions in areas such as Minecraft coding and modding, Roblox game design, Unity, Unreal Engine, 3D modelling, animation and video editing
  • Tailor your teaching to each learner’s individual needs and learning style
  • Build trust and boost confidence through consistent, supportive mentoring
  • Be a positive role model, helping learners discover skills, passions and new possibilities

What we’re looking for

  • A genuine passion for working with children and young people
  • Experience delivering digital skills — for example coding, Unity, Unreal Engine, 3D modelling, video creation, or Minecraft and Roblox Studio
  • Game enthusiasts who have a passion for football, racing, Minecraft, Fortnite, Roblox
  • Reliability, trustworthiness and dedication to the role
  • Excellent communication with learners, families and colleagues
  • A friendly, patient and consistent approach
  • An understanding of — or willingness to learn about — SEND and SEMH needs
  • A reliable internet connection and a suitable home working setup
  • An ability to write progress notes which appropriately reflect sessions

What you’ll get

  • A fully remote role with flexible hours (minimum of 10 hours required) to fit around your life/study
  • Support from an experienced team, including a dedicated management team
  • Training and resources provided, with the opportunity to train in AET Level 3
  • Opportunity to teach our NOCN Accredited courses to Post 16 young people
  • Company pension
  • A genuinely rewarding opportunity to change lives through creativity and connection

Why digital skills matter for SEND and SEMH learners

Digital creativity is more than fun — it’s a powerful tool for transformation. Many young people with SEND or SEMH feel excluded from traditional education, but when introduced to digital tools in a safe, supportive environment, they thrive. Creative digital learning:

  • Builds cognitive skills like focus and problem-solving
  • Boosts communication and self-expression through creative projects
  • Increases confidence, independence and a sense of achievement
  • Opens doors to future careers in tech and the creative industries
  • Supports social-emotional development through trusted mentoring relationships

You won’t just teach — you’ll help unlock a young person’s future.
