We are looking for an organised, proactive and highly professional Medical Secretary to join our clieis nts Clinical Relationships team temporarily.

About the Role

As a Medical Secretary, you will act as the primary administrative support for consultants, coordinating patient pathways, managing complex diaries and ensuring all clinical administration is completed accurately and efficiently.

You will be the first point of contact for patients, GPs and healthcare professionals, providing a professional, compassionate and confidential service at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Consultants' diaries, clinics and appointments.
  • Act as the first point of contact for patients, relatives, GPs and healthcare professionals.
  • Coordinate patient pathways from referral through to treatment.
  • Prepare, process and action clinical correspondence promptly and accurately.
  • Maintain accurate patient records using hospital systems.
  • Liaise with clinical teams regarding investigations, admissions and appointments.
  • Ensure Consultant clinics run smoothly by proactively managing administrative requirements.
  • Support Consultants with hospital systems, policies and procedures.
  • Assist with service improvement initiatives and departmental projects.
  • Produce reports and analyse administrative data where required.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and GDPR compliance when handling patient information.
  • Provide cross-cover for colleagues during periods of annual leave or absence.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • GCSE English (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience within a healthcare administrative or medical secretarial role.
  • Experience supporting Consultants or clinicians, ideally within private healthcare.
  • Excellent customer service and patient-focused approach.
  • Strong organisational and diary management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confident using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to prioritise a busy workload and work independently.
  • High levels of discretion and confidentiality.
