Full job description

Job title: Head of Events
Location: Nottingham (hybrid, 1 day working from home each week)
Job type: Full-time
Pay: £55,000 per year base | OTE £70,000, up to £80,000+
Hours: 35 hours per week, flexible around the event calendar

The opportunity

As Head of Events for the UK’s leading business and property training company, now in its 13th year, you’ll be the conductor behind every event. Every member who walks through our doors experiences what you orchestrate. You’ll lead the events team, including our speakers and event operations, set the standard in the room, and manage the key relationships that keep members, mentors and sponsors coming back year after year.

The day-to-day

  • Based at our Nottingham office, with 1 day working from home each week
  • Leading a team of 2 Events Managers (office based) and 2 Events Coordinators (remote)
  • Events at The Belfry Hotel and Spa, near Sutton Coldfield: 3 consecutive days each month, plus an additional 3-day event in 4 months of the year between April and October
  • 35 hours per week, flexible around the event calendar
  • Travel expenses to and from events covered, plus overtime

What you’ll own

  • Event vision, standards and our brand in the room
  • Mentors and hosts: selection, contracts and performance
  • Suppliers (hotel, AV, film and photography): negotiation, management and performance
  • Sponsors: relationships, delivery and renewals
  • Member retention: engagement, satisfaction and renewals
  • Event budgets and cost control
  • Member escalations, and health and safety at events

How you’ll be measured

  • Client Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 90%+
  • Member retention and renewals
  • Sales at our events
  • Sponsor renewals
  • Beating the event budget

Must haves

  • Gravitas and stage presence, with the confidence to prep and run a show in front of a full room, and to lead and motivate the team delivering it
  • A commercially savvy, experienced manager with a proven record of leading teams
  • A track record of delivering world-class service to discerning customers
  • Strong supplier and contract negotiation experience
  • Front-of-house delivery of a live, in-person service, such as events, hospitality, restaurants or shows
  • Calm and decisive under pressure, with a track record of hitting tight deadlines
