At NHS Property Services, we believe our people are our greatest asset. That’s why we’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued, supported, and empowered to thrive. Our People Strategy - Get, Grow, and Keep Great People, is all about building a values-driven culture where colleagues and customers are at the heart of everything we do.
We're looking for a Domestic Assistant (Mobile) to join our team, helping to maintain safe, clean and welcoming healthcare environments across a number of NHS sites within the Skipton and Keighley area.
About the role
Contract: Permanent
Salary: £12.92 per hour (£25,272 per annum pro rata)
Location: Holmfirth - Holme Valley Memorial Hospital
Hours: 20 hours per week
Please note: This role requires flexibility, as the contracted hours are 6:00am to 10:00am; however, due to the mobile nature of the position, candidates may be required to work between 6:00am and 8:00pm to support service requirements across the various sites. Flexibility to work both early morning and later shifts is therefore essential.
A full, clean UK manual driving licence is essential, as this is a mobile role requiring travel between multiple sites. A company van will be provided for business use, and candidates must be comfortable travelling across the designated coverage area.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness across healthcare facilities
- Carrying out legionella flushing procedures and accurately recording activity
- Safely handling and disposing of waste
- Using and maintaining cleaning equipment, including vacuums, floor machines and steam cleaners
- Ensuring compliance with COSHH requirements
- Reporting equipment faults through NHSPS systems
- Replenishing cleaning supplies and consumables
- Supporting a safe, hygienic and welcoming environment for patients, visitors and colleagues
What we're looking for
We welcome applications from people with experience in:
- Previous cleaning, domestic, housekeeping or facilities experience (although this isn't essential)
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic
- The ability to work independently and manage your time effectively
- Good attention to detail
- An awareness of health and safety and infection prevention standards, or a willingness to learn
- A commitment to delivering excellent service and supporting patient care
Whether you've worked as a cleaner, housekeeper, domestic assistant, hospitality team member or in a similar environment, we'd encourage you to apply.
Where You'll Work
You'll support a number of NHS sites across Skipton and Keighley area, including:
- Keighley
- Skipton
- Coronation Hospital, Ilkley
- Settle
- Barnoldswick
There may also be opportunities to provide cover at other nearby locations when required.
What we can offer you
We understand how important life is outside of work so, as well as a competitive salary we will also offer:
- 27 days annual leave+ 8 days bank holiday with the option to buy additional weeks leave.
- A Smarter Working Policy, empowering you to choose the location of how and where you work according to your daily activities.
- Training and development opportunities, providing opportunities for our colleagues to develop and progress their careers at all levels through our Professional Excellence Framework.
- SMART Pension contribution into which the company will contribute up to 6%
- A range of flexible benefits, including NHS retail discounts and Cycle to Work Scheme.
- We have a great Colleague Assistance Programme and offer support for all areas of life.
An organisation with a purpose
We are an organisation with a passion for giving back. Putting money back into the NHS, raising £150,000 over 3 years for our charity partner Young Lives vs Cancer, supporting colleagues to volunteer within their local communities, and being committed to creating a
sustainable working environment on our pledge to become net zero carbon by 2050. We understand that it’s important to feel like the work you do is having a meaningful impact on society, and through our approach to being a responsible business, we make sure that every colleague is given the opportunity to make a difference.
At NHS Property Services, we’re committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive. We welcome applications from disabled people and will make reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process and in the workplace to support your needs. If you require any support or adjustments, please let us know we’re here to help
