Full job description

Overview
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced MRI Radiographer to join our expanding MRI service. This exciting role offers the opportunity to work across both clinical and research imaging, supporting the delivery of high-quality diagnostic imaging while contributing to cutting-edge research studies that advance healthcare and medical science at Aston University Imaging.

The successful candidate will play a key role in providing high-quality MRI images and ensuring the safe and effective operation of the MRI Equipment. You will work alongside researchers and healthcare professionals, contributing to a diverse range of clinical services and research projects. This position is ideal for a radiographer who is passionate about MRI, enjoys working in a collaborative environment, and is keen to be involved in the development and implementation of advanced imaging techniques. The successful candidate will also have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be IT literate and some paediatric experience, but this is not essential.

A strong commitment to MRI safety is essential. The successful applicant will be expected to uphold the highest standards of MRI safety practice, ensuring rigorous patient screening, adherence to local and national safety guidelines, and the maintenance of a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. An understanding of MRI safety principles, including the management of implants, devices, and research-related safety considerations, is highly valued.

Whether supporting routine diagnostic pathways or participating in innovative research studies, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes and the future of medical imaging. Aston University Imaging is an independent imaging provider based in the heart of Birmingham on the Aston University campus.

We take referrals from a variety of Healthcare Professionals; however, patients can contact us to discuss an appointment if they have been referred. We accept self-funding patients or those with private medical insurance.

Our MRI unit comprises a state-of-the-art Siemens 3T Prisma scanner, which was installed in March 2022 so proven experience using Siemens scanners would be desirable.

Qualifications

  • Recognised qualification in radiography or equivalent, with evidence of post graduate qualification/specialised training in MRI techniques
  • HCPC registration
  • Proven experience in conducting MRI scans; experience in Paediatrics advantageous but not essential
  • Strong knowledge of medical imaging principles, protocols, and safety procedures
  • Experience working in a research imaging environment
  • Excellent patient care skills, demonstrating empathy, professionalism, and clear communication
  • Good IT skills for managing digital imaging systems and patient records
  • Effective communication skills to liaise confidently with patients and healthcare team members
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
