We are seeking a Personal Assistant for deaf individuals in the York Area, United Kingdom. The role involves supporting the client with daily tasks such as shopping, social activities, exercise and attending medical appointments. Candidates must communicate in British Sign Language (BSL) and possess a clean driving license.
We are looking for a passionate and motivated Personal Assistant to support and empower Deaf individuals and the wider Deaf community across York and the Surrounding Area.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a genuine difference by improving access, participation, and wellbeing for Deaf people.
Key Responsibilities
- Build relationships with Deaf community members, local organisations, and service providers.
- Advocate for the needs of individuals within the Deaf community.
- Obtaining information to enable deaf individuals to have access to activities and services.
About You
- You are fluent in British Sign Language (BSL Level 3 min) or have strong communication skills within the Deaf community.
- Experience working with or within the Deaf community (Preferred).
- You are confident engaging with people from diverse backgrounds.
- You are proactive, organised, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- You are passionate about inclusion, equality, and community empowerment.
- Experience in social care or a related field (Preferred).
