Who we are

We're a ServiceNow partner with a unique focus. Most partners implement the standard modules. We do that too, but our specialism, and the reason the big consultancies bring us in when the technical bar is high, is bespoke application development and system-to-system integration. We're the only partner in the UK who focus on this area.

Six years in, we're 31 people, nearly all technical people, working across central government, defence, local government and large enterprise. We expect to roughly double in size over the next 12-18 months.

Our clients are predominantly central government and public sector, with some large enterprise. Our previous clients (mostly via consultancy partners) include Emergency Services, HMRC, FCDO (Foreign Office), defence contractors, NHS England, Department for Education, and more.

Why this role exists

Our customers and our projects have grown. Where we used to be handed a well-defined technical problem, we're now being asked to help shape the answer: what should the platform strategy be, what does the roadmap look like, how does ServiceNow form part of a wider AI strategy, and how do we get the exec team to back it?

Being honest, this isn't something we are good at today. We're a technical business, and our role has been to solve problems and implement solutions, not define strategy or influence. At the same time we're forming a sales team, taking on more work in our own name, and considering expanding services to other platforms beyond ServiceNow. This strategic advisory role is what we're missing.

This is our first strategy role. We're not a big consultancy and we won't pretend to be one. What we can offer is a genuine mandate, a senior role, and the chance to shape a practice and a business.

What you'll do

• Lead the strategic conversation with client CIOs, CTOs, and their leadership teams, alongside our sales and delivery people rather than behind them.
• Work with customers to shape short-, medium- and long-term technology and application roadmaps, aligned to their business objectives.
• Build the business case. Turn ambiguity into an evidence-backed argument that an exec team can sign off.
• Design and run workshops, and produce material that holds up in a boardroom.
• Make the case for where a platform (ServiceNow or otherwise) genuinely fits a client's strategy, and be straight with them about where it doesn't.
• Spot where we can add real value in existing accounts and help our sales team turn that into a proposition.
• Lead our own periodic strategy reviews and help shape where the business goes next.

Some weeks you'll be in a client's operating model. Others you'll be helping us decide what kind of company we want to be in three years' time.

What we're looking for

This isn't a role for someone stepping into strategy for the first time. We're looking for someone who has done this, repeatedly, for large organisations.

• Multiple years in a technology strategy, advisory or corporate strategy role, across multiple organisations.
• A track record of advising senior stakeholders and exec teams as your day job, across a large number of clients, and being listened to.
• Experience with large organisations, e.g. 5,000+ IT users, complex estates and the governance that comes with them.
• A strong grasp of IT, digital or application strategy. You need to be fluent enough with software to hold conversations with the people who design, develop and deliver it.
• The ability to build a business case, a roadmap and a persuasive story, and present all three well.
• Ideally, time at a major consultancy, where this kind of work was the norm rather than the exception.
• Degree-educated, ideally in a relevant discipline.
• Comfortable joining a business that is still developing, rather than slotting into an existing machine.

Useful, but not essential

• ServiceNow, ITSM or enterprise platform exposure.
• Public sector, defence or regulated industry experience.
• Existing SC clearance, or eligibility for it.

The practical bits

We're based in York and we're an office-based business: five days a week, no hybrid, no remote, which is a deliberate choice. The way we solve complex problems works better when everybody is in the same room. We expect there to be occasional and limited travel to customer sites or events.

• £65,000 – £70,000 depending on experience.
