Full job description

Yorkshire Ambulance Service is looking for an Apprenticeship Learner Support Lead to support learners on our in-house and provider-led apprenticeships. The post-holder will work within the Apprenticeships Team alongside an existing Learner Support Lead. Whilst this role covers a wide range of support across clinical and non-clinical apprenticeships, we are looking for someone to lead specifically on Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) support for apprentices.

The post-holder will be experienced in supporting additional needs, implementing reasonable adjustments and creating individual support plans for a range of needs and disabilities. Experience in the apprenticeship or further education sector would be beneficial, alongside knowledge of additional Learning Support Funding (LSF) claims. This role provides the opportunity for someone with knowledge and experience in SEND to own our apprenticeship inclusion processes.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) NHS Trust geographically covers nearly 6,000 square miles of varied terrain, from isolated moors and dales to urban areas, coastline and inner cities.

We serve a population of over five million people across Yorkshire and the Humber and strive to ensure that patients receive the right response to their care needs as quickly as possible, wherever they live.

We employ more than 7,100 staff, who together with over 1,300 volunteers, enable us to provide a vital 24-hour, seven-days-a-week, emergency and healthcare service.

Our ambition is to be an employer of choice, and we are continuously working across our partnership to improve our collective offer to staff in areas like health and wellbeing, benefits and flexible working incl. hybrid working.

Benefits:
Flexible working including part-time hours, job shares and flexible hours, agile working (role dependant)

27 days annual leave, increasing to 33 with service.

Contributory Pension.

NHS Discounts including shops, restaurants, gyms etc.

Car lease and other salary sacrifice schemes (salary dependent)

Dedicated employee assistance and counselling service.

Opportunities for research participation, career progression and ongoing development.

Well respected, committed and supported staff networks for our workforce.

The role will involve working directly with learners to understand support needs, provide one-to-one support, keep robust documentation and produce data around additional needs.

The post-holder will identify learner needs and use referral pathways for dyslexia diagnostics and workplace needs assessments.

The role will also involve reviewing SEND evidence and making applications to external bodies for assessment adjustments and funding.

The post-holder will liaise with Line Managers and Educators as part of learner support packages and work closely with the Apprenticeships Manager to progress the apprenticeships Inclusion strategy.

The post-holder will take ownership of SEND support for apprentices and have the opportunity to shape new processes.
