About us

The Escape House creates immersive escape room adventures filled with puzzles, stories and surprises. We’re looking for enthusiastic, reliable Games Masters to join our team and help give every group a memorable experience.

We’re recruiting for an immediate start, with substantial hours available over the Christmas period.

The role

As a Games Master, you’ll look after our guests from their first welcome to their final team photo. You’ll set the scene for their adventure, follow their progress and deliver the right clues at the right moments.

The role combines customer service, storytelling, computer skills and practical problem-solving. You’ll need to stay focused, notice the small details and adapt your approach to different teams.

Your responsibilities

• Welcome and brief guests: explain the rules and safety information clearly, introduce the story and get players excited about their adventure.
• Run games: monitor players through cameras and audio, operate our game-control software and provide timely, carefully worded clues.
• Adapt to each team: judge when players need support and respond calmly to unexpected situations.
• Reset rooms: return every puzzle and prop to its correct position, checking everything is ready for the next group.
• Look after customers: answer questions, deliver an engaging debrief and take team photos.
• Care for the venue: keep rooms and customer areas clean and presentable, check equipment and report faults.
• Work with the team: communicate clearly and help colleagues keep games running smoothly.

What we’re looking for

• Great customer service skills: a friendly, welcoming manner and a commitment to giving guests a brilliant experience.
• An understanding of escape rooms: an interest in puzzles and immersive experiences, and an appreciation of what makes a game enjoyable.
• Confident computer skills: the ability to navigate software quickly while following a live game.
• Fast, accurate typing: essential for delivering clues at the right moment.
• Strong written and spoken English: you can explain things clearly and write clues that are easy to understand.
• Excellent attention to detail: you can follow reset procedures consistently and spot when something isn’t right.
• Quick thinking and adaptability: you can respond to different players, solve problems and stay calm under pressure.
• Reliability and teamwork: good timekeeping, clear communication and the ability to work independently as well as with others.

Acting or performance skills, particularly confidence portraying different characters and bringing stories to life, would be a big bonus.

Basic DIY and practical repair skills would also be a huge bonus.

Previous experience working in an escape room isn’t essential—full training on our games and systems is provided.

Hours and availability

This is a zero-hours role, with shifts varying according to customer bookings. Evening, weekend and holiday availability is important.

We have substantial hours available over the Christmas period, so please include your availability throughout November, December and Christmas/New Year when applying.
