Our Peer Support Service in Blackpool is commissioned by the Lancashire and South Cumbria integrated care Board to work with the primary and secondary care networks to support and empower individuals. Though sharing our own Lived experience, we empower clients to overcome issues impacting their mental health.


The Opportunity

We’re looking for a passionate Individual to join our dynamic team at Zest Blackpool. In this role, you’ll be at the heart of the support for individuals struggling with social issues that are impacting their mental health. Providing a range of support for individuals to overcome social issues, housing, benefits, social inclusion, debt, attending medical appointments to name just a few. The role is varied no two days are the same. Although some days can be quite challenging it is also rewarding, enabling individuals to live a life worth living making a real difference daily.

Working as a Peer Support Worker provides an opportunity to support individuals with your own lived experience to overcome issues that are impacting their lives, providing an opportunity to enrich and make a difference on a daily basis.

An opportunity to bring your own lived experience to support others to overcome complexities, for example Mental Health/Substance Misuse/Debt/Physical Health/Housing.

What We’re Looking For

We believe in recruiting for potential as well as experience. Our ideal candidate will have:

Essential:

  • Lived experience of mental health services, life experiences and able to reflect on their personal experience of Recovery.
  • Experience of being in a supportive and enabling role
  • Ability to Drive and have own car
  • Basic IT skills in Outlook and Word and a willingness to learn the companies IT systems
  • Willingness to engage in training
  • Ability to manage in stressful situations
  • Willingness to complete Accredited Peer Support Worker Training

Desirable:

  • Completion of the Accredited Peer Support Worker Training
  • Experience of the health and social care service either paid or as a volunteer
  • Computer literate in software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, Outlook etc.
