Full job description

KL Accountants is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Trainee Accountant to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start or develop a career in accountancy within a supportive and friendly practice.The successful candidate will gain experience across a wide range of accounting and tax services, working with businesses and individuals from a variety of industries. Full training will be provided, along with study support towards a recognised professional qualification (AAT followed by ACA).

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate may be expected to assist with a variety of accounting and administrative tasks, including:

  • Assisting in the preparation of annual accounts for limited companies, partnerships and sole traders.
  • Supporting the preparation and submission of personal and corporation tax returns.
  • Processing bookkeeping records using cloud accounting software.
  • Assisting with the preparation and submission of VAT returns.
  • Preparing bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Supporting the preparation of management accounts and associated working papers.
  • Assisting with payroll processing and workplace pension administration.
  • Communicating with clients to obtain information and respond to routine queries.
  • Corresponding with HMRC, Companies House and other third parties where appropriate.
  • Maintaining organised client records and ensuring work is completed accurately and on time.
  • Providing general administrative support to the accounts and tax team as required.

As a trainee, the range of work you undertake will develop over time as your knowledge, skills and experience grow. Full training and support will be provided throughout your professional development.

What We're Looking For

  • Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office (particularly Excel). Experience with accounting software is beneficial but not essential.
