Hour of Work

10am to 7pm Four days on Four days off.

General scope of the post:

To provide a wide range of activities to interest and stimulate the physical and mental well- being of the residents.

To understand the need of promoting the philosophy of privacy, dignity, independence, choice, rights and fulfilment for all residents, therefore treating everyone with respect.

Qualifications

Required:

· Genuine interest in working within a care environment.

· Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.

· Team player.

· Willingness to participate in Vocational Training Programmes.

· Satisfactory Police Check and check against the POVA List

Desired:

· Relevant Vocational Qualification (achieved/working towards)

· Experience of working with the elderly.

· Knowledge of visual impairments.

Principal Duties:

To participate in enhancing the intellectual and social well-being of the residents to provide as far as possible, a happy and stimulating experience. Help residents to socialise within the home.

To plan, organise and co-ordinate activities for active daily living for each resident individually and in groups.

Plan and organise an activities programme that will maintain interest and progression over a period of time.

Provide residents who are confined or choose to stay in their rooms with in-room activities in keeping with life-long interests (music, reading etc) and in-room projects they can work on individually.

Encourage relatives and friends to participate in the homes activities.

Assist with escorting residents to and from activities.

Organise and escort residents on outings individually or in groups, with appropriate transport.

Encourage involvement within the local community.

Support and develop residents who may be confused and/or who have behavioural problems.

Maintain full and accurate records of activities using the relevant documents, in order to monitor, record and evaluate individual and group participation and success.

Foster good community relations and assist in the organisation of fund raising initiatives within the home.

To assist in the planning of the homes special events such as summer fetes, coffee mornings etc.

Under the supervision and guidance of senior staff, report on the well-being of residents.

Ensure full privacy and dignity is maintained in line with the Company’s policies and procedures.

Provide risk assessments for levels of activity.

Maintain sufficient activities supplies.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £12.81 per hour
