SEND Learning Support Assistant – Actors, Actresses & Drama Graduates

Schools Mutual Services are seeking dynamic, creative individuals from acting and drama backgrounds to work as SEND Learning Support Assistants (LSAs), supporting children and young people with Autism and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) across a range of school settings in Gateshead.

About the Role:
Step into a role where no two days are the same. You’ll be working in inclusive and specialist school environments, helping pupils engage with learning through creativity, structure, and imagination. Many of our schools use sensory and play-based approaches, making this the perfect fit for performers who know how to capture attention, build rapport, and adapt in the moment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with additional needs
- Deliver creative, engaging, and sensory-based activities
- Encourage communication, confidence, and social interaction
- Support daily routines, transitions, and emotional regulation
- Work closely with teachers and support staff to enhance learning
Ideal Backgrounds:
We are particularly interested in:
- Actors & Actresses
- Drama Graduates
- Workshop Leaders / Facilitators
- Youth Activity or Camp Leaders
About You:
- Outgoing, expressive, and adaptable
- Confident using creative approaches to engage others
- Passionate about supporting children and young people
- Experience working with young people is advantageous, but not essential
