We do this by delivering an outstanding educational experience and creating prosperity and opportunity in the communities we serve. Whatever your role, you’ll be playing a vital part in helping us achieve our vision.
About the role:
The University of Lancashire wishes to recruit a Veterinary Technician to join our Technical Services team who provide support to the wide variety of laboratories at our Preston campus. The successful candidate will be primarily focussed on supporting Undergraduate and Postgraduate veterinary/laboratory activities within our state-of-the-art science laboratory and clinical facilities in our new School of Veterinary Medicine. This includes mock theatres, dentistry suite, radiography suite, kennels and cattery, physiotherapy suite including hydrotherapy treadmill and more.
Duties will include the set up and preparation of laboratories and providing day to day technical support and advice to staff and to students studying Veterinary Science in our clinical areas.
About you:
You will need to be practical with a keen interest in animal sciences, be IT literate and have a working knowledge of veterinary equipment, supported by great customer service skills. You must also have excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise with colleagues, staff and students. A degree of manual handling may be involved e.g. lifting and carrying clinical/veterinary equipment. A flexible approach is required to weekly working patterns due to the student timetable.

Applicants need to meet all essential criteria on the person specification to be considered for interview. This position is based in Preston.
Use of AI in applications: We want to understand your genuine interest in the role and artificial intelligence can be a useful tool to support your application. However, all examples and statements provided must be truthful, factually accurate and taken directly from your own experience and the written elements of your application should accurately reflect your own communication style. Applications that rely too heavily on AI tools can appear generic and lack the detail we need to assess your skills and experience.

What we can offer you:
We have a fantastic package of rewards and lifestyle benefits – from an attractive annual leave entitlement to access to a comprehensive employee benefits platform which includes a 24/7 online GP.
