About the Role

This isn't just another management role.

As our Curriculum Area Manager for Animal Care, you'll be at the heart of an exciting and dynamic curriculum, leading a team of dedicated professionals while ensuring learners receive an exceptional educational experience.

You'll work closely with teaching staff, technicians, animal centre teams, employers, and industry partners to create engaging learning opportunities that prepare students for successful careers in the animal care sector.

From shaping curriculum strategy to supporting learner success, you'll play a key role in helping students achieve their ambitions while ensuring our provision remains innovative, industry-relevant, and inspiring.

What You'll Be Doing

Lead an Outstanding Team

  • Manage, motivate, and develop a talented Animal Care team.
  • Support recruitment, induction, performance reviews, and staff development.
  • Champion high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment.
  • Foster a positive culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Drive Curriculum Excellence

  • Lead the strategic development of our Animal Care programmes.
  • Ensure learning remains aligned with industry needs and workforce priorities.
  • Work closely with our Animal Centre team to maximise practical learning opportunities.
  • Help shape timetables, resource planning, and future curriculum growth.

Build Industry Connections

  • Develop strong relationships with employers, veterinary practices, charities, conservation organisations, and sector partners.
  • Create exciting opportunities for work experience, enrichment activities, trips, guest speakers, and progression pathways.
  • Help students gain valuable real-world experience and industry insight.

Champion Student Success

  • Monitor learner progress, attendance, and achievement.
  • Support interventions that help every student fulfil their potential.
  • Use data and learner feedback to continuously improve outcomes.
  • Inspire learners to achieve excellence in both practical and academic settings.

Who We're Looking For

You'll be an experienced educator and leader who is passionate about animal care and committed to delivering exceptional outcomes for learners.

Essential Experience

  • Recent teaching and tutoring experience.
  • Experience leading and delivering curriculum provision.
  • Experience delivering Animal Care programmes.
  • Experience managing or leading teams.
  • Strong understanding of current animal care industry practice and progression routes.

Essential Qualifications

  • Degree (or equivalent higher-level qualification) in Animal Care, Animal Management, Animal Science, or a related discipline.
  • Relevant teaching qualification.
