We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity to join Simba Residential Care as part of our Therapeutic Family.

We would love to hear from caring, dedicated, resilient and enthusiastic adults who are looking for an opportunity to make a difference. You will enjoy working with children and be able to ensure a safe, caring, supportive, fun nurturing and loving environment which enables the children to belong and thrive.

Your role in our therapeutic family is key to the standards of care we provide. You will oversee and play a crucial role in therapeutically parenting the children in our care. This will involve developing and delivering a range of therapeutic approaches to meet the children’s individual needs, whether that’s education, health, or their opportunities to interact socially.

As a Therapeutic Parent, you will support our children to fulfil their wishes and dreams and support with day-to-day life skills and tasks, accessing activities and providing a stable home environment.

You will support the day to day running of the therapeutic family home, ensuring children’s needs are met and the best possible care is provided in an environment that promotes a culture where the well-being and voice of the child is both met and heard, and where diversity and equality is embraced.

You will be providing trauma informed care and keeping care plans up to date through communication and involving children in decisions made on how they wish to be cared for.

We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic individuals, based on your values, willingness to learn new skills and the compassion to deliver the best care and experiences possible to our children.

This is a full-time role, working an average of 40 hours per week over 7 days including evenings, sleep in and weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

o Build trusting, and reparative relationships

o Be a trusted adult, who is there and available for the children to support them in all aspect of their lives to help them achieve and thrive. Including daily routines, activities, and their emotional well being

o Promote belonging, belief, resilience, empowerment, independence, and positive behaviours

o Ensure the recording of accurate logs, reports and care planning.

o Collaborate with the team around each individual child to ensure high standards of care that is in the best interests of the child.

Successful candidates will:

o Ideally have experience working with children and young people or experience working in a role where the skills and knowledge are transferable.

o Level 3 diploma for Residential childcare (or equivalent) or the willingness to work towards it

o A caring, compassionate, and empathetic attitude

o Excellent timekeeping and communication skills

o Ability to work in a team environment and lone working.

o Be able to respond in a calm manner and have emotional resilience

o Flexible approach, sensitive to the needs of young people.

o Be flexible to the working hours to meet the needs of the children

o Hold a clean Full UK driving License (preferred but not essential)

o Must have valid right to work in the UK
