Full job description

We are seeking a creative and enthusiastic Art Teacher / Supervisor to lead a weekly after-school Art Club for Year 1–4 pupils at a primary school in Royston, near Cambridge. This role gives children the opportunity to explore a variety of art materials and techniques while developing confidence, imagination, and creative expression in a fun and supportive setting.

The club runs on: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:35pm – 4:35pm (2 hours per week).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise small groups of Y1–4 children in engaging, age-appropriate art activities.
  • Plan and deliver enjoyable sessions that encourage creativity, experimentation, and artistic development.
  • Foster confidence, curiosity, and a love of art in young learners.
  • Maintain effective communication with school staff and, where appropriate, parents regarding children’s participation and progress.
  • Ensure all materials, tools, and the art space are safe, tidy, and ready for each session.

Experience & Skills

  • Experience teaching or leading art activities for children in schools, clubs, or similar settings.
  • Ability to motivate and engage young learners in a structured yet fun environment.
  • Strong English communication skills for working effectively with children, staff, and parents.
  • A background in art, design, education, or creative subjects is desirable.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: £32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 2.0 per week

Work Location: In person
