Job Description – Azure Data Engineer (Remote, UK)

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Location: Remote (UK-based)
Eligibility: Must have the legal right to work in the United Kingdom
Experience Required: 3 to 12 years

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse, and related Azure services.
  • Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes for structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Implement data ingestion from multiple sources (APIs, databases, streaming, third-party systems).
  • Build and optimize data models, data warehouses, and lakehouse architectures.
  • Work with architects to design robust cloud data solutions aligned with business needs.
  • Ensure data quality, data governance, and metadata standards are consistently met.
  • Monitor and enhance performance of data pipelines, storage, and compute workloads.
  • Implement scalable and cost-efficient cloud data solutions following Azure best practices.
  • Work closely with data analysts, BI developers, product teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliverables.
  • Contribute to solution design sessions, architecture reviews, and technical discussions.
  • Implement data security best practices, including role-based access control and encryption.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant governance standards (GDPR, internal policies, etc.).

Required Skills & Experience (3–12 Years)

Candidates can be considered at junior-mid, mid-senior, or senior level depending on experience.

Technical Skills

  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure data services, ideally including:
  • Azure Data Factory (ADF)
  • Azure Databricks / PySpark
  • Azure Synapse Analytics
  • Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS)
  • Azure SQL / SQL Server
  • Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (Python preferred).
  • Solid experience building batch and/or streaming data pipelines.
  • Experience with data modelling, ETL/ELT, and modern data warehousing.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD for data workloads (e.g., Azure DevOps, Git).

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £55,000.00-£95,000.00 per year
