Full job description

About Seedlings Montessori Childcare

Seedlings is a warm, nurturing, family-orientated Montessori setting where children thrive through child-led exploration, independence and hands-on learning. Our team is small, supportive, and committed to helping every child develop confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.

As an apprentice, you will be welcomed, valued, and supported every step of the way. You will learn how Montessori principles blend with the EYFS to provide high-quality early years education in a homely, respectful environment.

Role Purpose

To support the team in providing exceptional care and learning experiences for children aged 0–5, while working towards your Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification. You will learn professional skills, gain hands-on experience, and gradually take on more responsibility as your confidence and knowledge grow.

Key ResponsibilitiesSupporting Children’s Learning & Development

  • Assist in planning and delivering Montessori-inspired, child-led activities.
  • Support children’s independence, confidence, and resilience.
  • Engage warmly with children, following their interests and meeting individual needs.
  • Observe children’s learning and contribute to assessments with guidance.
  • Help prepare calm, purposeful learning environments using natural, open-ended, and real-life materials.

Providing High-Quality Care

  • Support children’s personal care needs, e.g., toileting, nappy changing, mealtimes, sleep routines.
  • Follow safeguarding, health & safety, and welfare requirements at all times.
  • Build positive, nurturing relationships with children and their families.

Creating a Montessori-Inspired Environment

  • Help set up and reset classrooms each day.
  • Ensure materials are clean, accessible, and presented attractively.
  • Promote independence — e.g., children pouring drinks, tidying up, choosing resources.

Working as Part of the Team

  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and follow instructions.
  • Take part in team meetings, training, and supervisions.
  • Ask questions, seek support, and show a willingness to learn.

Professional Conduct

  • Complete all coursework, training sessions, and assessments on time.
  • Follow policies including safeguarding, behaviour expectations, confidentiality, and health & safety.
  • Model calm, respectful behaviour and positive communication.

RequirementsEssential

  • A genuine passion for working with young children.
  • Kind, patient, enthusiastic, and willing to learn.
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to completing your qualification.
  • Ability to follow guidance and work as part of a team.
  • Willingness to undertake further training including First Aid & Safeguarding.

Desirable

  • Some experience with children (e.g., babysitting, volunteering, caring for relatives).
  • Interest in the Montessori or child-led approach.

What Seedlings Offers

  • A warm, supportive team who will mentor and guide you.
  • A high-quality training experience in a Montessori environment.
  • Opportunities to grow into a confident, skilled practitioner.
  • Staff wellbeing support and a positive, family-like culture.
  • Beautiful indoor and outdoor learning environments.
