Primary Objective:


Supporting the development of AKGs growth strategy and bidding pipeline in our key markets of employment, health and wellbeing, behaviour change, and adult skills, working closely with the wider AKG UK businesses (Intuitive Thinking Skills; AKG Health; AKG Learning) to harness the wealth of complementary expertise and position AKG as a leading provider of services at a national and local level.

Relevant activities will include pre-market engagement, qualifying bid opportunities, bid planning and management, creation of high-quality tender submissions, including responding to written requirements, and completion of supporting research and data analysis.

As part of wider AKG UK and reporting into the Head of Bidding, the post holder will also be expected to contribute toward wider growth efforts across the UK and global businesses as required.



Key Relationships/Interactions



Internal

  • Director of Business Development UK, Head of Bidding, and peers within the UK Growth team
  • Leads, business development and commercial staff across AKG UK business units
  • Operational and Shared Services teams delivering and supporting AKGs existing services
  • Relevant contacts across the wider AKG UK group

External

  • Commercial and procurement teams within commissioners, including but not limited to: Local Authorities, Combined Authorities, Jobcentre Plus, DWP, etc.
  • Relationships with other private and voluntary sector providers
  • Colleagues within AKGs wider provider network to enable collaboration and joint working on new opportunities

Key Responsibilities


  • Support the implementation of our growth strategy in agreed key markets (e.g. employment, health and wellbeing, skills, behaviour change) through identifying, qualifying and leading bidding activity for commercial opportunities.
  • Support large-scale tender opportunities as required e.g. bid management, writing and subcontractor and stakeholder engagement.
  • Take the lead on smaller tender opportunities, including: managing bids; solution and delivery model design; development of relevant written materials; and coordinating internal governance.
  • Undertake a range of different business development activity in pursuit of target contracts, including but not limited to: development of relationships with commissioners; identifying and building subject matter expertise; partnership identification and relationship-building; attendance at market engagement and procurement events; supporting creation of thought leadership content; solution and win theme development with our subject matter experts and/or operational teams; applications onto relevant Frameworks; and ultimately managing any resulting tender exercises.
  • Facilitate ongoing bid library development, refresh and management, including the management of our AI tools content library.
  • Support the continuous improvement of the organisations end-to-end bid processes, including exploring ways to incorporate machine learning and AI.

Essential/Desirable Skills, Knowledge and Experience



Essential

  • Proven experience in bid management, with evidence of success in winning new business in AKGs key markets - we are particularly keen to hear from candidates with experience of writing winning skills and health and wellbeing bids

  • Ability to write / develop compelling, high-quality and accurate bidding materials
  • Experience of using tendering portals
  • Experience of selling and closing complex service offerings
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strategic thinker
  • Understands Government policy and funding cycles within the markets in focus
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to deliver objectives whilst demonstrating a strong sense of integrity

Desirable

  • Has an existing network of clients, partners, contacts within AKG's key markets
  • Experience of using AI bid writing tool and/or of implementing AI into the bid process
