Job Description


We are seeking a proactive and strategic Business Generation professional to lead and drive business development initiatives within our UK Defence Sector. This role is pivotal in shaping and executing campaigns, enhancing market presence, and supporting bid strategies to secure new business. You will work closely with our UK Defence Managing Director, sector leadership, Head of Markets, Head of Major Bids, campaign managers and client teams to position Turner & Townsend as a trusted partner in Defence.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of the Defence Sector Business Generation Plan, aligned with sector strategy and growth targets.

  • Drive UK-wide marketing campaigns focused on Defence brand, propositions, products and services.

  • Identify and cultivate relationships with key Defence clients, industry bodies, and membership organisations to expand market reach.

  • Collaborate with bid teams to position Turner & Townsend for success in upcoming Defence tenders.

  • Manage and ensure best practice is shared with our Bid to Win library to drive best practice responses to bids.

  • Develop and manage sector-specific events, webinars, and thought leadership initiatives.

  • Create and promote case studies, success stories, and best practice materials to support business generation.

  • Leverage digital platforms (LinkedIn, DotDigital, CRM tools) to execute targeted campaigns.

  • Monitor and report on campaign performance, contributing to quarterly board reporting and strategic reviews.

  • Work closely with UK Communications Team to align messaging and amplify sector visibility.

  • Mentor junior business generation staff, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.


Qualifications

  • Proven experience in business development or marketing within the Defence, Infrastructure, or Government sectors.

  • Strong understanding of Defence procurement processes, client landscape, and market dynamics.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Proficiency in CRM systems, and digital marketing tools.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate insights into actionable plans.

  • Strong project management and organisational skills.

  • Recognised professional qualification or degree level qualification.
