Job Description:

RME Consultants are working with a business in Didcot to find a Bid Manager to join their team.

Role: Bid Manager

Salary: £32,000 - £38,000 per annum

Contract: Full time, permanent

Location: Bid Manager

Main Responsibilities for the Bid Manager

  • Collaborate with sales leads, technical SMEs, and the Director of Bids to design solutions addressing customer challenges.
  • Define win themes, value propositions, and competitive differentiators.
  • Ensure proposals reflect customer insights and strategic drivers.
  • Craft clear, persuasive responses that meet client requirements and showcase our offering.
  • Translate technical and delivery inputs into engaging, client-focused narratives.
  • Maintain consistency in tone, style, and messaging across all submissions.
  • Utilize AI-assisted writing tools for draft creation and content efficiency, ensuring all outputs are accurate, human-reviewed, and tailored.
  • Support bid strategy through storyboarding, content planning, and quality reviews.
  • Coordinate with the bid mechanics team to ensure compliance and timely submission.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external partners to gather and align input.
  • Capture lessons learned and contribute to bid best practices, tools, and templates.
  • Maintain and update the bid content library to reflect current standards.
  • Share market intelligence and competitor insights to strengthen future bids.

Required Experience & Qualifications for the Bid Manager:

Essential

  • Proven experience in bid writing or proposal development, ideally in consultancy, professional services, or training.
  • Strong understanding of bid processes, procurement frameworks, and tendering.
  • Ability to shape win themes and customer-focused value propositions.
  • Excellent written communication and editing skills (with samples available).
  • High IT literacy, including MS Office and collaboration tools like MS Teams.
  • Eligibility to obtain UK Security Clearance.
  • Analytical mindset; able to translate technical detail into persuasive content.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with SMEs, sales, and leadership.
  • Resilient, adaptable, and able to meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple bids.
  • Creative, persuasive, and client-focused approach.
  • Energetic, proactive, and team-oriented.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of solution design or architecture, particularly in L&D or consulting.
  • Training in capture planning/proposal writing (e.g., Shipley).
  • Familiarity with scheduling/collaboration software (e.g., Monday).
  • Project management qualifications (e.g., PRINCE2, APM PFQ).
  • Experience assessing risks and costs in public procurement, especially government contracts.
