About Twisted Marine

Twisted Marine is a dynamic and expanding marine engineering and boat building company with sites in all along the South Coast. We are recruiting an experienced Marine Engineer to join our Salcombe division.

As a business, we specialise in the marine leisure sector, delivering high-performance engineering solutions and exceptional service to discerning clients. In 2024, we proudly acquired Scorpion RIBs, further strengthening our position in the premium RIB market as an OEM. Our Salcombe division holds main dealership status for Volvo Penta, Yanmar, and Honda Marine.

This role is based at our Salcombe branch and is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking team at the forefront of marine innovation.

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Marine Engineer to join our Salcombe team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of 12v electrical systems, inboard and outboard propulsion systems, and diagnostic procedures. You’ll also be familiar with a range of ancillary marine systems and confident helming small craft when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain 12v electrical systems on a variety of leisure vessels.
  • Service and troubleshoot inboard and outboard propulsion systems, including Volvo Penta, Yanmar, and Honda Marine.
  • Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve faults.
  • Install and maintain ancillary systems such as bilge pumps, water systems, heating, and navigation equipment.
  • Helm small craft for testing, sea trials, and customer support.
  • Maintain accurate service records and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Ensure all work meets safety standards and marine regulations.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in marine engineering or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of 12v systems and marine propulsion technologies.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools and techniques.
  • Understanding of ancillary marine systems.
  • Full and valid UK driver’s licence.
  • Confident and competent in helming small craft.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Marine engineering certifications or relevant vocational training.
  • Experience with high-performance or custom marine builds.
  • RYA Powerboat Level 2 or equivalent.
