Full job description

We're looking for a skilled Furniture Finisher with a good eye for detail to work on high-end solid wood furniture. You’ll be responsible for the final surface treatment of the furniture, ensuring every item leaves the workshop with the quality, character, and craftsmanship our clients expect.

This is a starting role, and we will provide training to the correct candidate. However, this role requires strong practical ability and pride in finishing work to an exceptional standard. You’ll be working with (mainly) hardwoods, (some) veneers, and a range of finishes including oils, lacquers, waxes, and stains.

This role is a fixed term contract from the 19th January to the 27th March to cover one of our team members whilst they are on a sabbatical.

What the job involves:

  • Prepare surfaces for finishing (sanding, cleaning, knot filling, etc.)
  • Apply hand-rubbed finishes - oils, stains, waxes, and paints as required

Identify and correct imperfections, blemishes, or inconsistencies in materials or finishes

  • Maintain and clean equipment and workspace
  • Using panel saws and routers to cut to size/shape tops
  • Collaborate closely with cabinetmakers to ensure smooth handovers and continuity in quality

What we’re after:

  • Good manual dexterity and attention to detail
  • Some knowledge of finishing materials, tools, and techniques
  • Ability to problem-solve surface or material issues with minimal supervision
  • A methodical, clean, and organised working style
  • Passion for furniture or design

Desirable:

  • Proven experience in furniture finishing (ideally bespoke or high-end production)
  • Basic knowledge of furniture construction
  • Previous woodworking experience

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract

Pay: £12.21 per hour

Benefits:

  • Company pension
  • On-site parking

Work Location: In person
