Full job description

Step into a premium seafront venue with three months of hands-on training to set you up.

Southsea Beach Cafe on Clarence Esplanade reopened last month after an extensive renovation, and we're now trading as a premium destination on the south coast. We're looking for an experienced Assistant Manager to join us, working alongside our current Assistant Manager for your first three months to learn the venue inside out before stepping fully into the role.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Support the General Manager in the day-to-day running of the venue, working alongside the current Assistant Manager during your training period
  • Lead the floor during service, acting as the steady presence both staff and guests rely on
  • Mentor, train and develop team members to deliver consistently excellent service
  • Manage rotas, shift planning and front-of-house operations
  • Maintain premium standards across service, presentation and cleanliness
  • Step up in the General Manager's absence to keep the venue running smoothly
  • Help resolve guest queries and ensure every visit meets our standard
  • Support compliance with health and safety, licensing and food hygiene requirements

What we're looking for

  • Proven experience running busy venues while delivering exceptional customer hospitality
  • A track record of mentoring and training the staff you manage
  • A calm, capable presence on a busy floor
  • Strong organisational skills across rotas, shifts and daily operations
  • Someone ready to grow into the role and take on real responsibility
