Company: George Potter House Care Home
Are you an experienced Activity Coordinator or Lifestyle Lead who is creative, full of ideas and passionate about improving the lives of older people?
Do you have experience supporting people living with dementia and understand how meaningful activity can improve wellbeing, independence and quality of life?
George Potter House is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Lead Lifestyle Coordinator / Activity Lead to lead and further develop our activity and wellbeing programme.
We are looking for someone who can get to know our residents, understand their life stories, interests and abilities, and create meaningful opportunities that bring purpose, enjoyment, connection and fun to everyday life.
A key part of this role is also about inspiring the wider team. We want someone who can lead by example and encourage carers, nurses and other colleagues to recognise that meaningful engagement is an important part of everyday care and everyone's responsibility.
What You Will Do
- Lead and develop a creative, varied and meaningful activity and wellbeing programme.
- Develop activities specifically suited to people living with dementia, including residents with more advanced dementia.
- Plan activities around residents' individual interests, life histories, cultures, previous occupations and abilities.
- Provide a balance of group activities and meaningful one-to-one engagement.
- Develop sensory, reminiscence, music, movement, creative and everyday meaningful activities.
- Bring fresh ideas and continually look for new ways to improve residents' experiences.
- Inspire, coach and involve carers and the wider team in meaningful activities and everyday resident engagement.
- Lead by example and help staff recognise opportunities for meaningful interaction throughout the day.
- Organise events, celebrations, outings and seasonal and cultural activities.
- Build relationships with families, volunteers, schools, community groups and local organisations.
- Support residents who may be socially isolated or unable to participate in traditional group activities.
- Maintain appropriate activity records, lifestyle profiles, risk assessments and documentation.
- Listen to residents and relatives and use their feedback to continually develop the service.
About You
Previous experience in an activity/lifestyle role within a care setting is essential.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have:
- Experience developing and delivering activities for people living with dementia.
- A good understanding of person-centred dementia care.
- Creativity, enthusiasm and the confidence to introduce new ideas.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and inspire other staff to get involved.
- The confidence to coach colleagues and lead by example.
- Experience delivering both group and one-to-one activities.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A positive, energetic and flexible approach.
- A genuine passion for helping older people live meaningful and enjoyable lives.
Experience leading an activity or wellbeing team and relevant dementia, activities or health and social care qualifications would be an advantage.
What We Offer
- Competitive hourly rate based on experience.
- Supportive and friendly working environment.
- Free meals while on shift.
- Training and professional development opportunities.
- The freedom to bring your creativity and ideas to the role.
- The opportunity to lead and develop the activity and wellbeing programme and make a genuine difference to residents' everyday lives.
Interested?
If you are an experienced activity professional who understands dementia care, loves bringing new ideas to life and has the confidence to inspire others, we would love to hear from you.
When applying, please send your CV and tell us briefly about an activity, project or initiative you have developed that you are particularly proud of.
