How to write a junior web developer CV

It's important to place links to your coding and site portfolio near the top of your CV's first page. This allows you to present your best projects to your potential employers, creating a good first impression. The body of your CV provides extra information about your qualifications, accomplishments and job experience, enabling hiring managers interested in your portfolio to learn more about you.

Follow the steps below to create your junior developer CV:

1. Choose a reader-friendly format

On average, it takes a hiring manager less than 30 seconds to scan through your CV. Choosing a clean format is important to ensure that you catch the recruiter's attention during that short period. You can apply the following tips while choosing your design:

  • choose the right CV format, such as chronological order

  • place double spacing between each section, set a one-inch margin and left align content to create adequate negative spaces

2. Fill in your details

6. Include relevant skills

The job may not just involve developing websites. You may also work with other groups of developers, requiring teamwork and excellent communication skills. A good developer requires different skills that you might not list in an ideal CV to reduce its length. You can follow the steps below to incorporate such skills into your CV effectively:

  • Write out the skills you possess and the skills listed in the job description.

  • Think about which of your skills matches the company's requirements (at least five).

  • Include your relevant technical skills, hard skills and soft skills.
