Street Food Catering Assistant / Cook

We Meat Again – Mobile Street Food Business (Wiltshire)

- Location: Melksham (prep unit) + events across Wiltshire

- Hours: Full time – 30-40 hours per week

- Working days: Wednesday–Sunday

About Us – We Meat Again

We Meat Again is an independent mobile street food business, trading since 2021, specialising in burgers and loaded fries.

We operate from a prep unit in Melksham (a stone’s throw from the train station), while our food truck travels and trades at locations and events across Wiltshire.

We pride ourselves on quality:

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Catering Assistant / Cook to support the owners in the day-to-day running of the business.

A typical working week includes:

Wednesday – Prep Day (Unit)

  • Basic food prep and minimal cooking
  • Following instructions and prep lists

Thursday–Saturday – Trading Days (Food Truck)

  • Loading and setting up the van
  • Building burgers and packing orders
  • Assisting during service to keep everything running smoothly
  • Serving customers, taking orders and payments at some events
  • Cleaning down the van and washing up after service

Sunday – Deep Clean Day (Unit)

  • Washing and sanitising utensils and containers
  • Cleaning the van which includes cooking equipment and extraction canopy/filters

** Due to the nature of the role, some heavy lifting is required (e.g. chip boxes and gas bottles).

Who We’re Looking For

Ideally, you will:

  • Have Previous experience in food preparation, cooking, or hospitality setting is desirable and Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices is advantageous but training will be provided
  • Be able to work independently at times
  • Follow instructions and recipes accurately
  • Have your own transport (helpful but not essential)
  • Be able to travel to our Melksham prep unit
  • Have a positive, can-do attitude and be willing to learn
  • Be creative and help develop monthly specials
  • Be physically fit and comfortable working in and around the van
  • Be confident with customers and the general public
  • Be a reliable team player
