Since 1760 Shoreham Port has operated as a Trust Port. With all profits continually reinvested to benefit users of the Port and local communities we play a vital role in the regional economy.

The Port is a diverse and complex ecosystem, we facilitate cargo, leisure and fishing marine traffic through efficient berthing, discharge, storage and logistics services. These are complemented by an extensive commercial property portfolio made up of over 200 businesses. Experience/Skills required

  • A recognised professional finance qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Significant senior financial leadership experience within a complex organisation.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong financial planning, reporting, governance and risk management expertise.
  • Experience presenting to Boards and senior stakeholders.
  • Commercial awareness and a strong strategic mindset.
  • Experience driving organisational change, process improvement and digital transformation.
  • Enthusiasm or experience working within a Trust Port or other purpose-led environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Finance and IT teams, creating an engaged, high-performing and values-led culture.
  • Provide strategic financial leadership, ensuring strong financial planning, reporting and governance.
  • Lead the development of annual budgets, forecasts, business cases and investment appraisals.
  • Oversee statutory accounting, taxation compliance, audits and financial controls.
  • Advise the Executive Team and Board on financial, digital and cyber-related risks and opportunities.
  • Manage key external relationships, including auditors, funders, pension providers, insurers and HMRC.
  • Drive organisation-wide digitalisation initiatives to improve efficiency, remove waste and enhance ways of working.
  • Champion the use of technology, systems improvements and artificial intelligence to support operational excellence.
  • Help shape the organisation’s long-term strategy and Masterplan
