Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to provide high-quality care and assistance to individuals in various settings, including assisted living, nursing homes, and home care environments. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the physical, emotional, and social well-being of clients, ensuring they receive respectful and personalised care. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives while developing your skills within the caring profession.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver personalised patient care, including assistance with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and mobility support
  • Assist with medication administration in accordance with care plans and protocols
  • Support clients with meal preparation and feeding as required
  • Manage behaviour effectively, particularly in cases involving dementia or Alzheimer's care
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to clients, fostering a positive environment
  • Assist with light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe living space
  • Support clients with mobility, including heavy lifting when necessary and safe transfer techniques
  • Drive clients to appointments or activities as needed, ensuring safety during transportation
  • Monitor health status and report any concerns to healthcare professionals promptly
  • Follow health and safety guidelines diligently, including first aid procedures when necessary

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in assisted living, nursing home care, or home care is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of dementia, Alzheimer's, hospice, or senior care is advantageous
  • Relevant certifications such as first aid or medication administration training are preferred
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and assist with mobility needs
  • Valid driving licence is beneficial for transportation duties
  • Strong communication skills and empathetic nature essential for effective caregiving
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a caring environment
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends or evenings if required
