Job Summary
As a Pharmacist, you will be responsible for overseeing daily pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with GPhC regulations, and delivering exceptional pharmaceutical care. You will play a key role in dispensing accuracy, medication safety, patient counselling, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Pharmacy Operations & Compliance
- Ensure safe, accurate, and efficient dispensing of medicines in line with GPhC, NHS, and legal requirements.
- Implement best practices to minimise medication errors and enhance patient safety.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, prescriptions, and medication stock management.
- Adhere to all GPhC regulatory standards, including CPD (Continuing Professional Development) requirements.
Patient Care & Medication Management
- Provide expert medication counselling, ensuring patients understand dosage, side effects, and potential drug interactions.
- Monitor patient responses to treatment, making clinical adjustments where necessary.
- Support patients with complex conditions, ensuring adherence to treatment plans.
Collaboration & Clinical Support
- Work closely with GPs, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop integrated, patient-specificmedication plans.
- Offer training and mentorship to pharmacy staff and junior healthcare professionals.
Professional Development & Continuous Improvement
- Stay up to date with emerging medications, therapies, and industry best practices.
- Contribute to pharmacy policy development, audits, and service improvements.
- Lead health awareness initiatives and patient education programmes.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Requirements:
- GPhC registered Pharmacist with a valid practising license.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology, anatomy, and medication safety protocols.
- Excellent communication and patient counselling skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and a commitment to high standards.
- Proactive approach to compliance, CPD, and professional development.
Desirable (Not Essential):
- Experience in an ICU setting.
- Previous leadership or managerial experience in a pharmacy setting.
- Familiarity with electronic prescription systems and medication audits.
