I have worked at A&B Healthcare for the last couple of years. I have worked for other Home-care companies previously but have found A&B to be the most caring and efficient. I get paid 15p a mile as well as the time it takes me to get to my next call at full rate, holiday pay is paid weekly throughout the year which suits me as I don’t always need to take all my holidays so means I get paid for them regardless of whether I choose to take them all or not. I can adjust my availability if required, overtime is always available and I have found the office staff to be very supportive throughout some o problems I have had. The office is always open if you just want a drink, somewhere to eat lunch or a chat (before coronavirus). Full training is given as well as updates as well as the opportunity to gain extra training in more specialist things if you wish. It truly feels good to support the vulnerable within our community especially in the current climate, it really makes a difference.

Terrible

No one answers the phone you rota changes all the time. Their not bothered about you or your clients.it did get a little better when I went from employed to bank staff. Most of their carers are bank

Flexible around my family

I have worked at a & b for a few years now and find that the hours work really well alongside my personal life. Choosing my own availability is such a bonus! Holiday pay upfront and travel/mileage paid as well as weekly pay is great. I love my clients, the office offers support when required and the job itself is very rewarding. Covid has had a huge effect on people’s lives so it’s nice to be able to help vulnerable people and make a difference to people’s life’s. I have recommended my friends and a family member to a & b too.

Poorly Run - avoid at all costs

this company is a shambles. Poorly run unsympathetic staff. constantly ringing you wanting to do more. Paid minimum wage even though you are working your bum off. No empathy from management. Poor training. travel money paid but not worth it. do not pay you when you are off for your holidays these are paid on your wages. clients times constantly moved around so they get angry with the carers about the times we are turning up.

Caring and supportive

I have worked for A&B Healthcare from the start and have found them extremely supportive and friendly. The office staff are always happy to help and my manager has helped me through a lot of personal problems I needed help with. Would recommend them to anyone who wants a job in care.

Excellent

The interview process was so easy. I felt so relaxed the recruiter made me feel at ease. The whole office vibe was very relaxed everyone was really friendly. My work is very regular and i know where i am with the company.Would recommend to anyone!!

Good company

Having been a long term employee, I've always found that talking to the office and working out resolutions easy. If there's a problem they will work to solve it. They worked around my availability. Weekly pay was a bonus! Uniform provided and on site training regularly. If you're unsure of anything you can ask and they'll help.

Happy work/personal life balance

From start to finish, the initial joining process was brilliant. After attending a 5 day induction and completing 2 shadowing shifts I was sent out on my own. I have lots of support from the girls in the office which is especially helpful, even more so when I am out on an evening or weekend and a problem occurs. The hours have been picked around my own availability, meaning I can be a mum and wife alongside being a carer. The work we do is not always easy but it is extremely rewarding and i have recommended two of my friends to the company too.

Like family

Just a great company to work for, it is a shame I live quite some distance away for full time work here. I enjoy watching staff develop their skills and implement these into their role.

Beware

Definitely not enough training if you haven't had an understanding or previous experience of working in a care environment before. You don't get paid travel time. You don't get paid the right amount of mileage. You don't get breaks. You get sent all over the place like a yo-yo wether you are a walker or a driver, absolutely ridiculous impossible at times call lists to try and cover and at the wrong times which causes upset and confusion. Unprofessional, extremely uncaring and rude to staff and clients if challenged about it.

Sorry that you felt this way. I would just like to confirm that full training is provided, alongside East Riding Policies and followed up with shadowing with an existing carer. 15p per mile fuel, plus travel time at £8.72 per hour is paid. Availability is built around each individual so breaks can be requested as when suits you. We constantly review things to ensure that we are working in the best interests of our clients and staff and we are extremely proud of our family values and community spirit.
