This company goes on about training but when you tell them you need help with something they just expect you to get on with it,, have to demonstrate to customers but don’t know all machines so very bad in front of customers
Get weekend off
Wages to low, have to do overtime even if don’t want to, drivers are treated like your worthless
I decided to move on due to change of CEO at the time. There was no real direction of where the company was going and the mood/atmosphere was not good either, however in hindsight I should have sat it out because he did not last that long..!
I started work at 9 am. Started with tidying the yard, Put the thing back where there belong after grading. And getting a load ready for tomorrow. It took a long time to get the load read, about 2.5hours. so with that my day is finished. at 7 pm.
Aplant is a brilliant company to work for and has a lot of knowledge within various depots you can lean on if you don't know something. I have spent 11 years in this company, and every day has been a new experience. They like honest, hard working go getters, and with the right attitude you will go really far.
First thing is make sure you agree the wages you want before you start as there are plenty who moan after they start about wages. Work wise they are decent with a low tolerance for unsafe behaviour, like everywhere there are always people who aren't happy but its what you make it
Decent work/home life balance
There are some muppets
Started great but manager miss managed personal problems that happened and outcome was disgraceful blamed me for his miss management and the out come was that I got my contract stopped
Good people to work with
The pay is terrible for the amount of hours you work management and foreman have their favourites both of them treat you like dirt PPE is poor they provide you with the cheapest PPE and it is difficult getting what you need no facilities for you to clean your hands in the toilet you have to go to the canteen to wash your hands you have to provide your own tea and coffee milk they don’t provide ongoing training for development You get your basic SLG Street Works card
Horrible place to work. Blame culture where only senior leadership is looked after. Workload is too high for salary and no support is given. I'd avoid Aplant
No chance of progression they expect the world from you at no notice, run by inept management keep well clear. No scope for progression management tell you we will put you through courses and it never happens, work your balls off for very poor wages and no thanks at all.
