Driver (Former Employee) - Lockerbie, Dumfries and Galloway - 20 March 2022
AW Jenkinson is a good place to work as a driver. The wages are on par but you will struggle to work them out as you are paid a basic rate then 20% of what your truck makes. Equipment is good and they have no problems getting trailers in and sorting the problem immediately. Work is ok if you are prepared to graft, can be a bit dirty/smelly at times. Management in some offices needs looked at, but majority of planners are spot on.
Pros
Good money
Cons
Long hours, time away from home

Soap opera on wheels
HGV Class 1 Driver (Former Employee) - Lockerbie - 3 November 2021
Work every hour they can get out you. 48 hours wtd means nothing I found it to be like being back at school the way the managers spoke to you. The transport clerks were all the drivers who crawled there way into the office. They didn't have a clue
Pros
New lorry
Cons
Poor managers and traffic Clarks

Good company
HGV Class 1 Driver (Former Employee) - Lockerbie/ boness. - 22 March 2021
If you want to make money you need to be maximum weight and do maximum hrs. Wages should be better for the job you are doing. You get 20 percent of what the lorry makes but they don't tell you how much each job is where they should be. You could be waiting an hour to get loaded and an hour to get tipped or longer that's 10 hrs a week you don't get payed for. Some planners don't have a clue how to run the lorries. Asked to break the law when it suits ie weight. Could be a much better company to work for if management got there finger out.
Pros
Own lorry and trailer so not changing all the time.
Cons
Maximum hrs

Not the best place I've worked
Yard Operative (Former Employee) - Lockerbie, Dumfries and Galloway - 2 April 2020
I found work/life balance is non existence, The place is very understaffed and no flexibility for working environment. Health and Safety is atrocious. I was never given any induction, health and safety or any PPE.

I enjoyed my time working here. The job was clear and well planned knew exactly what needed to be done in any one day as well as the timescales the job needed to be completed in.
