Good place to work if management will get better
Maintenance Engineer (Current Employee) - Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire - 27 April 2022
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedIs a good place to work but people skills are missing almost totally, too many mistakes done from lower level up to top, we go with the flow, everywhere is tough.

Place focused on the development of the staff. Priorities safety over efficiency. Good involvement from the factory floor staff.
Assistant Team Leader (Former Employee) - Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire - 17 February 2022
Busy and fast paced environment. Minimum manual labour. Very automated factory. Huge scope for training/development for the staff and also area to progress and to be promoted. Positive cultural change within managerial department
Pros
Training, development, carrier opportunities
Cons
BEN shift pattern

An honest negative review of a once great place to work
Technical Operator (Former Employee) - Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire - 11 November 2021
A once great place to work destroyed by stagnant management and blatant promotion of family and mates. After 15 years of hard labour in the Cumbernauld manufacturing site I can provide an honest assessment of the factory but not the office as I haven’t worked there. If you are looking for a positive glowing report then look away now as this is an honest summary of a terrible working environment where management deliberately attempt to dehumanise staff through servitude. No diversity and inclusion Outdated culture of aggression and threats Senior management on eye watering wages for no talent or knowledge Human Resources and the company’s direction are as if it was still the 1980’s. It’s a pointless exercise raising any concerns or objections about management or productivity as it’s a closed shop and a brick wall when someone speaks out about the regime and their running of the factory. Managers here never leave for other jobs they only get promoted higher up the chain as they would be found out immediately at any other business and dismissed. The site can’t run without people doing overtime, unfortunately that’s the company’s business model which has led to a false sense of income where staff do so much overtime that they build their lifestyle around double their salary so their afraid to speak out about the aggressive management style and it’s my way or the high way style of leadership because they may lose their overtime and won’t be able to pay for their Range Rover Sport. Sadly, a huge number of talented staff have fled in the past 5 years to other FMCG -
Pros
Free Car Parking, 24 Cans at Christmas, The Seasonal Oystercatchers, Babestation on the night shift colourful canteen
Cons
Aggressive Management Poor Salary 1950s Business Model

Used to be a great place to work
Technical Operator (Current Employee) - Milton Keynes - 22 September 2021
A few years ago the job and the culture were good. Now the only thing making it fun is co-workers Sadly the company ethos has moved from advancing employees and promoting a fun place to work, to about making as much money as possible even if that means cutting staff hours to do it. Loads of staff leaving and the management can't see it's not purely about money. Due to the exodus there are very few fully trained members of staff meaning training is done by people that are trying to work on another piece of equipment so can't give you their full attention. If advancement is what you want then you might be better of looking elsewhere as it's less about what you can do and more about who you know.
Pros
Co-Workers. The benefit scheme currently called "Extras" is very good.
Cons
Money grabbing culture and lack of trained staff

Good shopfloor workers poor management
Technical Operator (Current Employee) - Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire - 15 August 2021
Constant pressure from management don’t get a peace to actually carry out your tasks. Pointless meetings. Extremely poor salary for the jobs undertaken by tech ops running 3 to 4 assets at the one time which i think is a health and saftey risk on its own. Place is totally let down by the people who run the shop floor .
Pros
Free juice when they actually put it in the vending machine.
Cons
Poor management

Underpaid and Overworked
Warehouse Picker (Current Employee) - Cumbernauld - 20 July 2021
Terrible Company,Always understaffed and the retail section always has the biggest workload and always shafted by the management. Daily Targets always too high for the number of staff employed therefore always never finished in the 8hrs working day therefore nearly always a 10hr shift 5 days per week,12-8 means no social or family life midweek.
Pros
Free juice
Cons
Long hours, underpaid

It’s decent
Business Development Representative (Current Employee) - Manchester, Greater Manchester - 2 June 2021
Nothing special just decent although you need to be independent and be driven. Although some times you do get some support whenever there is someone available to guide you.
Pros
Great benefits
Cons
Stressful and average support

Production department bizarre
Technical Operator (Former Employee) - Cumbernauld - 24 April 2021
Started off a good job. On paper this factory is perfect, through time everything on paper unfolds to be untrue. Managers and supervisors without integrity. Watch your back time of feel to the place. Operator’s treated unfairly and moral is very low. Poorly managed factory with the potential to do well.
Pros
Not many
Cons
Too many

Not got a clue
Driver (Former Employee) - Retail. - 6 February 2021
Was absolutely brilliant years ago. Now too many rules that will be changed at the drop of a hat to suit higher management. Unprofessional. Clueless management. Too many people on high horses. I gave them years and was papped out the door with a fist pump after redundancy package all because they wanted me to take a massive drop in wages. The place is on its way out. Recently changed all contracts so they can take earned money off your wages. If your happy in that environment then go for it. I would definitely think twice. Only pro is non management staff are excellent to work with. Brilliant bunch of guys.
Pros
Good workers. Decent laugh. Out on road.
Cons
Too many!

Jobs at A.G. Barr
Don’t join barrs
Van mate (Former Employee) - Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire - 1 December 2020
This was a great job to begin with, was promised to be put through my class 2 license until new management came in. New management are nothing short of a joke and are completely unprofessional. Was made to feel belittled for being of for health shielding purposes and told I’m not getting a class 2 license, they love a power trip. I know of at least a dozen fellow workers who have left in the past 4 months. Don’t waste your time here!
Pros
Easy job
Cons
New Management

Managers neeed attitude checks.
Warehouse Picker (Former Employee) - Cumbernauld - 14 September 2020
management were awful. Constantly being told your working for your job etc. Not a great place to work. Being told losses everyday which to be honest I think was lies as then everyone would know there income and outcome.

A.G.Barr is a great company to work for. They have strong well known brands and people are seen as an asset to the business. They have a strong ethical approach to business, soft drinks and their employees.
Pros
Good salary, benefits, working atmosphere, IT systems and great people to work with.
Cons
Could be more successful with recent NPD launches!

excellence driven
Senior Manager (Former Employee) - Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire - 16 January 2020
The company strives for excellence and produces excellent products, promotion can be very swift for candidates who wish to work hard and put the effort in, you reap what you sow.
The company can be ruthless when it comes to company decisions especially the Scottish element of the HR system. Made a very bad decision to move the company from Tredegar, South Wales to Milton Keynes, should have invested heavily in Tredegar or moved locally keeping highly skilled experienced employees for better results. End product is becoming more expensive in relation to competitors.
Overall i would recommend the company for those seeking fast track promotion, job security is never guaranteed. Enjoyable experience from a company which can offer a lot

They do try
Technical operator (Current Employee) - Milton Keynes - 27 November 2019
The company try to do the right thing , there are plenty of benefits including a good shares scheme & if you don't want any of the extra benefits they pay you an extra £500 into your yearly salary, but this is still below the industry standard by about 15%. It can be very stressful & depending in which department there is a huge amount of manual handling. There are a lot of Europeans there but no animosity between the workforce

Good People makes it a good place
Operator (Current Employee) - Cumbernauld - 24 November 2019
Lots of reactive decisions and not all information is passed on which leads to problems. Communication can be a let down at times but all is not bad.
People are good to work with but sometimes it can be difficult to juggle all the days tasks. If you are stuck there is always someone to help
There are a lot of changes going on so maybe things will get better.
The people make it a good place to work
