Great professional development support through out my time at aecom. In my experience, the management staff were approachable and the work load was manageable but a bit repetitive at times.

Lovely people, but horrible mental health management

I started in 2017 as an apprentice and all was well until the pandemic. My mental health suffered greatly, and when I asked for help from management at AECOM, quite frankly, it was not offered to me. Instead, I was essentially put on disciplinary as I had dropped out of college after just over four years there. There was no position for me at AECOM anymore, and thus they tried to get rid of me via capability, since they couldn't get me on anything else. I ended up leaving earlier this year, and I'm much happier for it. If you want to work there, do. But heed this warning.

work on railway sites for the client network rail. works on the railway is drilling, trial pitting and drainage surveys. aecom provide there employees a company phone, food allowance, travel pay and a van with a fuel card.

As laid back as the office can be AECOM pay employees very poorly and largely forget about employees needs.

Working at URS

Multimedia Technician (Current Employee) - Basingstoke - 20 November 2013

I started work at URS in January 2013. To start off with, I really enjoyed working there. After the honeymoon period was over, it became clear to me, it is a very fast moving company. You need to be a character who is confident, deal with pressure and think on your feet. My role is a Multimedia Technician. Which involves creating 3D visuals, and graphics. The deadlines are often very tight. I've learned the importance of strong communications, and not be afraid to ask for help. My co-workers are ok. But the majority of the company is VERY corporate. So it feels a bit awkward to have a little chat whilst you work, in an open planned office. The hardest part of the job is were the deadlines are so tight, sometimes it is required to work VERY late. I find this pretty hard as I am very much a family man. The enjoyable part about the job is the variety of projects I get to work on. It's nice to have a good mix.

Good start into rail investigation work

Mostly digging holes. Ground work investigation process. Excellent middle management. A mixture of English and Polish, most good lads/men. Always away from home and nights. I enjoy the physical, outdoor work
