Great colleagues, great benefits, varied and interesting work, On the other handCan be quite political. Poor IT infrastructure. Staff often stretched too thin. Overly bureaucratic

Life at AXA

The work is fast pace, clients will be shouting at you constantly due to the level of service provided, customers are on hold for over one hr or more. Calls will be pushed through constantly. It is very stressful, there is no variety on activities, its call after call after call. On top of that you will be micro-managed and will get a feeling that you are not valued or listened to (which you are not!).Staring salary is very low for the amount of abuse and stress you will encounter, hence the very high turn around of staff. Management clicks and are not at all helpful, they bully staff and will not contact clients as requested by staff, clients will in turn call back and further abuse staff. Very bad environment! will not take bullying seriously and will not help the person making a complaint. No free car park, will be parking miles away from the office.

Not valued

Not valued enough at all really, no matter how much you do or how above you go for people. Didn’t think pay was enough for what they expected. Direct colleagues were mostly really nice

Great work culture

Great colleagues, culture of benevolence and growth, many perks, truly people first. Being part of a worldwide group also opens many opportunities for relocation and mobility

Avoid

I was here for just under 3 years. As soon as lockdown ended, me and over half of the team I was on all quit. Training and identifying talent pretty much don't exist, there's no formal ongoing training or talent recognition, but if you enjoy sucking up to the boss, you'll fit right in.

Pros

The front door is quite big, makes it easy to walk out of.

Cons

Training and advancement pretty much non-existent, it's better to social-climb, and don't worry, no actual ability is needed, just keep on social climbing.

The hours are worth it

A good employer who pays fair wages.Ability to work from home 4 days on 4 days off. It means working a 10 hour day but it's worth it.Supported by good management and team.

Pros

Work from home

Cons

Long hours

Get in with the right crowd

Unfortunately AXA claims across the board is subject to absolutely favouritism. If you face doesn't fit - say good bye to promotion prospects. You absolutely have to be a 'YES MAN/WOMAN'. This has been a huge disappointment for people with masses of experience being passed over for promotion. New faces sucking up to senior management have somehow surpassed the others.

Pros

Small bonus

Cons

Selling your soul

Interesting work but no job security

I learnt a lot during my time in this role but change of management meant you never felt safe in your role. Bonuses where paid on a rating scale which was often not fair - if your face didn't fit and many of the managers had little knowledge regarding disability rights if you had a long term health condition.

Pros

Good learning experience

Cons

Changes in management and no job security even when you had a contract.

Pleasant people in a very busy environment

Working in the contact centre you can expect to speak to customers on the telephone while working with keyboard and screen at speed. You will learn about various medical conditions and treatments and what is covered under the private medical policies. You will be fully trained on all this and on the IT systems. Colleagues, customers and management are kind and pleasant, and there is a genuine desire for staff to succeed and to thrive. The most challenging part of the job for me was coping with the volume of calls while also offering a high level of customer service. The most enjoyable part of the job was interacting with customers and colleagues.

Pros

Open and transparent management culture

Cons

High call volumes, very occasionally difficult customers

AXA Health - Where your mental well-being goes to die.

AXA (ironically named) Health in Tunbridge Wells has a good location, I’ll give them that. Centred in town is great for commuting to work if your live in the local area. However, there are a huge amount of negatives working at AXA that are swept under the rug by management.I worked for AXA between 2018 - 2021, working as an advisor for peoples health insurance. The first negative I would say is the companies lack of care for their employee’s well-being. In any other profession, that involves health and mental health as a whole offer proper counselling for their staff. Working at AXA completely ruined my mental health, health anxiety became a regular and after hearing story after story about cancer patients, refusing payment for treatment for live-saving surgeries and mental health emergencies my mental well-being has never recovered. The only help offered to staff is a very standard mental health app like Breathing Space. There is no professional help for staffs well-being and when it comes to sensitive matters - they couldn’t care at all.Management seemed to be all over the place, the people working there were all young and seemed to only want to be there for the pay check and it felt as though the power dynamic between regular staff and what they call “team leaders” was like cat and mouse. I cannot stress how badly this company affected my life, and I really do hope some sort of legislation comes into place for companies like this.

Pros

None

Cons

Was on the phones in corporate, always got on with my colleagues and had enough support from team leaders / management.AXA really looks after its staff.

Pros

Motivational days; free food! Good support, career progression

Cons

Felt pressure to not have much time on 'wrap' after a call

Fantastic place to work

I will definitely recommend working with AXA Northern Ireland. There is a good working environment without feeling the pressure of the work. And you have excellent Team Leads willing to help if you hit a bubble trap while working. Remuneration is not excellent, but you can still derive satisfaction with what you are being paid.At AXA you can see the line of progression towards becoming professional and achieving an excellent career as the year progresses.

Pros

Career development

Cons

Poor relationship with colleagues. You can feel so enstrange with colleagues in or out work.

Loved my job and co-workers

I’ loved working for AXA and only left because I moved to a Country/City that doesn’t have an AXA office. I found all co- workers to be friendly and helpful. The job was so satisfying as you had a hand in helping people when they needed help. Work-home balance for me was the successful in work condensed shifts (a little less pay but worth it for me) benefits, life insurance and pension all a must have and very useful for all. Pay could have been better but is so much better then where I am now. The only downside for me was having to “prove yourself” with monthly call reviews and annual reviews. If you’re not good at promoting yourself you’ll have trouble advancing within the company.

Pros

Benefits, friendly colleagues- job satisfaction

Cons

If you’re not good at promoting yourself you’ll have trouble advancing within the company.

Much needed improvement

The staff are generally great, managers are also very personable and supportive especially if you are particularly vulnerable. Unfortunately the training provided for staff who progress internally needs a lot of work, for my and a colleague that I entered this role with -we had a manager talk through the complaints process over "MSTeams" for a day. We could not access all the required software or email inboxes for a very long time, which left us relying on colleagues to access information for us.The technical knowledge that is required to make informed and fair decisions is not provided in an efficient way if it is provided at all. The organisation doesn't facilitate an environment where the workload is proportional to the staff required to carry it out. I spoke to an ex colleague before they left the company and the explained that the reason they left was due to the sudden increase in workload, the work had doubled. After I left I was told by another that they increased the load again ( they seem to only want to hire people when they are desperate) It's clear to see that the organisation would rather impose unrealistic and demanding workloads on an unreasonable amount of staff than to recruit enough people for a manageable work load. As you can imagine working is complaints is already stressful, the pay is not worth it and they encourage you not to discuss your wages and bonuses so you have no idea if you are being shortchanged or not.

Was good before outsourcing alot of IT

People are nice that you work with, friendly and supportive. Good chance to develop and grow.Sadly experience and knowledge isn't appreciated at higher levels of management, who think cheaper is better and outsourcing more is the answer, so treating current staff with no respect.

Pros

Flexible working

Cons

Pay, Too much outsourcing

A great company which has lost its way

Employee skills are not refreshed or updated anywhere near enough. The company appears to have stopped investing in proper ongoing professional development of its staff in many areas meaning that employees who are new to roles learn from their predecessors and colleagues often rather than getting proper training. As a result skills have been churning out of the business when skilled people leave.

Nice company but cultural issues

Typical enterprise. Slow moving & very, very cautious. Some cultural issues especially in IT where people vary from helpful & stressed to rude or bullying. AXA really do care about their people but working in technology is impossible with AXA IT.

Pros

35 hour week. Good benefits

Cons

Slow moving, bad culture in IT
