Satisfied
Live in carer (Current Employee) - Cornwall - 28 June 2021
I have been working for Abicare for some months. Comparing with the company I had worked before, Abicare is way better. I always have someone to talk to and share my concerns, which is the most important thing about this kind of jobs. The pay is satisfying and always on time. The few problems I faced were with the clients and always solved quickly with the help of the manager. I recommended Abicare to friends, who are also satisfied.
Pros
Recruiters and managers
Cons
Nothing so far

Amazing company cannot fault the management of the clients. Everyone is so supportive and positive. No awkward staffing issues or quarls between staff. Everyone gets on and that's how a work place should be
Pros
Good benefits, good support, amazing staff team
Cons
Not being paid by the hour

If management do not like you, you stand no chance
Domiciliary Carer (Former Employee) - Sussex - 4 February 2021
After almost year of working for this company, they no longer required my services. Over 10 years experience within care & I was unprofessionally told that “you do not fit our team”. No real reason for dismissal apart from that I was not a “clone” of the other cliquey staff members. No matter how well you do your job, if your face doesn’t fit, you will not succeed with this company.
Pros
Good hourly rate
Cons
If your face doesn’t fit, you will be made to feel unwelcome

28 June 2021We are not sure you have the correct company, as we closed our Domiciliary care branch in Sussex 2017.
Fab!
Carer (Current Employee) - Swindon, Wiltshire - 14 November 2019
I started at Abicare in April after having time out to raise my children, and I wouldn’t look back. My hours are flexible and work around my children and home life. The management team are fab and always at the end of the phone if needed. The carers all get on great! Amazing team work all round. Looking forward to many more years to come! :)

Great company to work for
Carer (Current Employee) - Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire - 25 January 2018
I have worked for Abicare for nearly a year now and I love the job and would recommend them to anyone looking for a varied and interesting career in care I have enjoyed my time working for Abicare I have met and supported allot of service users who have made the job very worthwhile and rewarding the staff and managers are very supportive of each other and its a great team here at BOA there are some downsides it can get very busy sometimes and you may be asked to do extra calls and to help out because sometimes unavoidable things happen like cars breaking down or sudden outbreaks of sickness and at times due to people leaving there are shortages of staff but on the whole its a great job and I personally get allot out of it
Pros
lovely people flexibility job satisfaction
Cons
can be long hours at times depending on the situation

29 August 2017We are sorry that you did not have a good experience and would like the opportunity to discuss in more detail, as your opinion does matter to us. The Salisbury team and management are always here to listen to your concerns over hours and different shifts. We offer flexible hours to suit the lifestyle of our carers and match them to meet the needs of our clients. You can work as little as 5 hours per week and up to 40 hours per week - we pay contact time with the client and also for the time you spend travelling in the car plus mileage. We receive excellent feedback regarding the 6 day induction all 'new to care' staff receive and Liz and the team are here to support their carers 24/7 with advice and guidance.
Worst Care Company Ever
Carer (Former Employee) - Southampton - 16 July 2017
Wouldn't recommend this company if my life depended on it!!
Management are dishonest, duplicitous and downright bullies!!
I would urge anybody thinking of joining this Company to look elsewhere!

Very poor Company
Must be one of the worst Care Companies in Dorset. Very poor unsupportive Management whom change Rotas whilst on shift. Unhappy moaning Service Users. Virtually no travel time included, expected to do Care Calls back to back cutting down Service Users times to get to next. Made to feel guilty by Management if cant do extra calls and shifts. Wrongly advertise Bank Holiday rate when starting with the Company, when you get paid substantially cut the rate of what they tell you you will earn. Such a high turnover of Staff, everyone leaves as so unhappy. Alround a very non caring Company, best to avoid and find employment elsewhere where your appreciated for the hard work you put in.
Pros
Mostly lovely Service Users
Cons
Bad Management, rarely any travel time, consistent unhappy Service Users

Fun work place
Live in carer (Former Employee) - West Sussex - 28 March 2017
As a live in carer at Abicare I have experience a dificult time. The working times- intensive hours more that 12 hours a day for two service users, with little sleep during the night. In our case they place two live in carers on 12/12 hours shift as same wages.
Pros
Easy to reach management on time
Cons
long hours, low wages

Not good
ex carer (Former Employee) - Eastleigh, Hampshire - 14 December 2016
Staff are left to train themselves Trainers are incompetent
treated like workhorses, carers pay is never right,
Other care staff are lovely mostly, but others talk too much
Office staff are nice care is good but there is a clik and if you dont fit in your not treated the same
Pros
carers and office staff are very nice
Cons
pay never right, training awful

Hard work, but rewarding
Carer Assistant (Current Employee) - Swindon, Wiltshire - 24 November 2016
I've worked for the Swindon branch for about 3 years. It's hard work with long hours, but I enjoy visiting the clients. Office staff have changed alot, but has recently has got better, more approachable. Office sometimes ask the carers to do impossible runs, but will normally explain the reasons why. Pay can sometimes be incorrect, but if questioned they will check it and rectify if errors have been made.
Pros
Lovely clients approachable manager
Cons
Long hours. Impossible runs.

Worst place to work
Carer (Former Employee) - Pont-y-pŵl - 28 September 2016
Terrible place to work, all these reviews are correct! Management is the worst you've ever seen, treat you like the lowest of the lowest. You aren't ever able to take a day off due t sickness they will call you in the office and threaten you.
Never know where you are, rota is updated every hour and sometimes even shorter. Once on way to a service users house and they swapped the shift when I arrived.
I worked 8 hours every single day and only received £400 for the month, would get more than double this in another job.
Honestly would never work for this company.
However all carers are lovely and most service users are so helpful and nice.
Pros
Other carers helpful and lovely.
Cons
Long hours, bad pay, management.

Rewarding.
Home Carer. (Former Employee) - Hungerford - 18 May 2016
Working as a carer was very hard work but very rewarding, the hours manager to fit in around my life with a young child, which was brilliant at that time.

Carer at abi care
I have been in the care sector for over 7 years and this company by far has too be the worse company I have worked for.The management are terrible and any issues you bring too the them gets over looked. There have been times I have gone too the office and over heard management talking about carers and things quite frankly I didn't need hear.
They promise you lots of hours yet there were no hours too give out and being out for 6 hours and only working 3 of those hours.Sometimes when it does get busy you wont have any travel time from call too call which then leaves you late at calls which upsets cilents and therefor gives bad service but we as carers are suppose too just get on with it.
There has been 4 cases now that pay hasn't been paid on time.one case I had to wait nearly 4 days after payday too receive my money which had coursed me too go over drawn and all we had from the office was a txt message saying sorry.
The carers are fantastic and the cilents are lovely but you have no support from the office at all.its practically impossible too get through too the office by phone as it's always engaged.we have no support over the weekend. There is an on call number but your only too ring this for emergencies yet this type of service is a 24/7 and for new carers that are still trying too find their feet, they will get told off if they are too ring the oncall number . management aren't understanding at all.
Last thing is there is a massive turn over of staff. company is not a good company too work for.
Pros
None
Cons
Pay isn't right.always have too check your pay.sometimes don't get paid on payday
