Interpreter (Former Employee) - Varied - 11 May 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedI worked for absolute interpreting for couple of months and was not a bad experience. Although I didn't get regular work and you're paid only for two hours of work which is not worth if you're looking for full time income.

Interpreter (Current Employee) - Frimley, Surrey - 3 March 2023
I cannot fault them. so far so good, been interviewed, assessed, trained and inducted. received an excellent and very hands on and practical training from one of their experts and i feel more prepared than ever before, this is despite my previous years of experience. i learnt a lot of new DOs and DONTs from them. A very caring and honest trainer.
Pros
excellent training and diversity of subjects
Cons
cannot call it cons but would be nice to add a few more days to the training.

Booking app not good enough and telephone portal poor
Freelance Interpreter (Current Employee) - Birmingham, West Midlands - 27 February 2023
Booking app not good enough and telephone portal not great, between staff and interpreters are lacked of interaction and communication. Too many penalties setting up. Sometimes send you confirmation booking with informing by phone. Payment errors have not been corrected by email. Sometime double booked errors. Fair management running the company. No regular training for the interprters. Problems solving are not good enough. The payment is not fair. There is no pay rise at all in last ten years. Bookings cancellation rules are set up for their favourite but inconvenience for the freelance interpreters. Telephones interpreting booking pay rate low but if DNA heavy penalties.
Cons
Low pay

2 March 2023Thank you for your review. However, we have carefully investigated every element of your review and we fully and categorically disagree with the comments made as outlined below. It is very evident that this comment is written by a local competitor who has been acting unfairly writing fake reviews on our our various listings in an attempt to cause defamation. 1. We have an award-winning App used by more than 20000 linguists across the UK. If the app was not good enough, then we would not be able to manage 1000s of bookings effectively and working with 1000s of our professional linguists. 2. We are the only company in the UK to have the best interaction and networking with our interpreters. This statement is fully denied. A good example of our excellent interaction and relationship with our interpreters can be evidenced from our Interpreters Recognition of Excellence Awards 2023 held on 24/02/2023 where more than 150 interpreters were invited to celebrate their success and the success of their other colleagues. 3. All businesses of terms and conditions to ensure compliance and there is no penalty that is outside of the terms of business. 4. It is an added bonus to receive bookings via email and by phone. 5. The allegation is entirely denied. Absolute are probably the only company in the UK to offer regular training and refresher courses to its interpreters. In fact, we hold at least 4 training sessions a month. 6. We have had several pay rise over the past few years. The allegation is fully denied. It is unfortunate that a particular competitor is going to this level to cause -
Problems with payments
Interpreter (Current Employee) - Remote - 11 February 2023
It was a good experience working for the company until they made a mistake in my payment... and they neither acknowledged nor resolved it despite numerous phone calls and emails. I understand people make mistakes but they can be resolved. It was quite shocking as I did a lot of work for the company and was always professional,on time and followed their procedures to the letter. It feels like they think that there are lots of interpreters in their database so they don't really care about losing people.

2 March 2023We have run a thorough investigation trying to find any case matching your review and based on the information provided, it is clear that the allegations made in the review are false and written by the very same person who is working for a competitor and writing fake reviews on our listings on several pages especially soon after we receive a good review it is followed by this person's fake revivews. Our company requires all interpreters to agree to our terms and conditions, which include information about payment rates, and go through regular training and induction sessions. Therefore, it is highly unlikely that an interpreter would not know their rate or have a payment issue that was not addressed by our company. We value our interpreters and strive to provide them with the best possible experience. If there are any issues or concerns regarding payment, our customer support team is always available to assist and resolve any issues in a timely manner. Furthermore, we do monthly payment run so it is impossible to miss any payment or not be paid for it. We take all reviews seriously, but in this case, it appears that the review contains inaccurate information and does not reflect the experiences of our company's interpreters. We support the professionalism and dedication of our interpreters and team and are proud of the work they do to provide high-quality interpreting services to our clients.

Freelance Translator (Current Employee) - Remote - 16 December 2022
Absolute Interpreting and Translations Ltd is a great company to work for. The staff is extremely helpful (they went out of their way to help me with a payment-related problem which was in fact a bank's issue). They are responsive, answer questions promptly and pay on time. Highly recommended.

2 March 2023Thank you for sharing your positive experience working with Absolute Interpreting and Translations Ltd! It's great to hear that you've had a good experience with their team and management. It's also good to know that their finance and HR teams have been helpful to you. Regarding the parking situation, it's understandable that it may be inconvenient to have to park a few minutes away from the office, but it's great that this seems to be your only concern. Overall, it sounds like you have a good working relationship with the company and that they have provided you with the support you need to succeed in your role as an interpreter.
Highly RECOMMENDED, collaborative staff and managers
Booking Officer (Current Employee) - Birmingham, West Midlands - 2 November 2022
After having applied for one of their in-house positions, I was pleasantly surprised. Soon after applying I got a call from their HR followed by an interview within 3 days of my application. On arrival the manager who interviewed me was very helpful. Clear and explained all the challenges, procedures and what to expect when working for absolute. This was quite helpful as the job description did not quite give me a clear understanding of the duties and responsibilities, but the interview made it very clear.. I am looking forward to starting my position would absolute in the next two weeks. Hoping to grow in the business and support the team even farther with their day-to-day activities.
Pros
Clear communication
Cons
9am till 6pm which is long hours

A reliable and professional agency to work for
Freelance Interpreter (Current Employee) - Birmingham, West Midlands - 1 November 2022
I joined them 3 months ago and I found their staff and HR accommodating and quite helpful with processing my application, talking me through different stages of my interview, assessment and induction which was enlightening. I am working for other agencies too but Absolute Interpreting and Translations has been the best so far. Importantly, I have been receiving my payments on time and with no issues. I just wish all clients paid for travel costs.
Pros
Professional and reliable to work for
Cons
Not all of their clients pay for travel costs

Please don’t work for them
Interpreter (Former Employee) - Birmingham, West Midlands - 16 October 2022
Worst company I could ever have worked for. Finance composed of useless people. They never reply to your questions to your concerns. Payslips full of errors. Management a kindergarten child.

Avoid!
Interpreter (Former Employee) - Banbury, Oxfordshire - 22 August 2022
I only had a booking but it was more than enough to see who am I dealing with! We agreed for an amount and when I received the payment the amount was less then we agreed.I have sent hundreds of emails, first they apologized and said it will be sort it out on the next payment, but never happened, finally I gave up as they haven't reply on my last email re payment. Not going to accept any bookings.Luckly I had just one, otherwise if you miss counting you might get less without realise if you dont keep a record, they have so many requirements( eg renewal of the references) but when it comes to short payments no reply.I would give 0 stars if I could. They dont care about interprerers. They keep sending job offers but I wont accept anything as the pay is very low.Other companies pay double for the same work .Avoiddddd!!!!
Pros
Flexibility
Cons
Agreed for a certain amount of money and received less

Official response from Absolute Interpreting & Translations Ltd
2 March 2023We have thoroughly reviewed our payment records and have found no evidence to support the claim that we did not pay the agreed-upon amount. Additionally, we have no record of any communication from the individual regarding a discrepancy in payment. Secondly, we value our relationships with all of our interpreters and take our obligations to them seriously. We maintain open and transparent communication with all of our interpreters and are committed to addressing any concerns or complaints they may have. We have no record of any communication from the individual regarding any issues with their references or any other concerns related to their work with us. In conclusion, we take all reviews seriously, and we are committed to providing the highest quality of service to all of our customers and interpreters. It is a shame that the individual in question has chosen to leave a false and misleading review pretending to be working for Absolute and making false claims. It is unfortunate that each time a genuine employee or interpreter shares their genuine feedback, the individual concerned writes fake reviews to cause reputational damage. We remain committed to upholding our reputation for fairness, transparency, and quality in all of our business practices.
Different kinds of translations and oppotunity to meet new people almost every shift.
Interpreter (Current Employee) - Birmingham - 12 September 2021
There is some independancy for doing interpretations as the way you prefer. Many shifts are far from Birmingham and it takes time to get there and the company does not pay enough money for transport. It is a good opportunity to always meet new situations of different environment.

19 October 2022Hello Thank you for your feedback. We do understand your rationale in regard to the travel costs. However, you would be pleased to know that some clients have recently agreed to pay travel costs while others pay an all-inclusive hourly rate which means a higher rate to cover travel costs. Please feel ree to contact our offices should you require further clarifiation.
Good Training
Interpreter (Current Employee) - Oxfordshire - 26 May 2021
Training is quite long, should have spilted into 4 days. It was fun and alots of role plays. The class size is huge and lots of interpreters going to the same training.

Great job with not so great pay conditions
Freelance Interpreter (Former Employee) - Telford, Shropshire - 16 September 2020
Unfortunately had to stop accept bookings due to continuous issue with pay. First it was my bank details they didn't have, took a lot of explaining to receive money earnt. They use every excuse to reduce payment/ add penalty. My advice is - record everything, all contact etc as it will be used against you so they don't have to pay. Payment sheet/ invoice always late and has to be chased. Contact becomes very rude and abrupt quickly when you ask for money and have issues with payment. In overall- sadly can't recommend, which is a shame, cause the job itself is lovely but its less stressful when you do it as a volunteer - then you know youre not getting paid and you help in community.
Pros
Flexible hours
Cons
Issues with pay

2 November 2022Dear Reviewer We have checked our records and we do not have any such incidents or issues logged on our system, especially since your location shows as Telford; we are certain this is not a legit review as we pride ourselves in paying on time and monthly. We are certain this review is written by a competitor to cause defamation.
