Bad

Poor work/life balance, was expected to work extra unpajd hours. The place was old school not in a good way. Massively understaffed. Be warned on a typical day you will be doimg the work of 5 people. Culture of spineless management who do well to blame everyone but themselves

Pros

Working for a charity

Cons

No work life balance, low pay, old fashioned business, understaffed

I loved it but it didn’t pay much and as a line worker out and about, you need to love your own company and the company of mainly elderly folk

What is the best part of working at the company?Friendly and helpful colleagues. Lovely clients. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Filling in the timesheets correctly otherwise pay is affected. So many clients in need, you could work a seven day week; however weekends are not worked What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Friendly and relaxed. Everyone is part of a teamWhat is a typical day like for you at the company?Start time is 9.00 but some clients are early birds and look forward to your visit, so can start from 8.00 onwards. You manage your own time

Unprofessional, uncaring

Toxic workplace, management are lazy and incompetent. Uncaring towards employees and customers. Hardest part of the job, safeguarding issues are ignored. Typical work day includes a large amount of stress and no support from management. No job security, not enough funding from Age Uk national

Great place but need more staff

Ongoing capacity issues, executive staff dont seem to be aware of workloads. It’s a great place to grow and develop. But individual workloads need attention

great customer relations

A really fun place to work, well its what you make it. The Managers and Area Manager weren't interested in my progress, encouraging me, or even if I could access my payslips online. At one point I asked if I could work some extra hours, but got no answer from either shops managers or area manager.I gave this as feedback to the Area Manager when he was surprised to receive my resignation, but even then he failed to acknowledge that no-one responded to my request, ironically-no empathy whatsoever !

Pros

casual culture

Cons

No communication between weekend staff and management

Hard work, little support from management .

Volunteers great, customers great, management so quick to criticize . The area manager ignores how your feeling about comments made by themselves make you feel.Good benefits regarding sick pay, pension etc ...

Low staff turnover and rewarding

I enjoyed my time working for AGE UK Manchester as a care assistant, however I find their services to be quite run down and in need of decorating and new furniture adding for residents. The culture in the care home was welcoming and the staff all very supportive of one another.
