Best decision I made joining Alcedo care.

Best decision I made joining Alcedo care, I was originally at the St. Helens branch, great team. Now I am at Wigan branch, which is also an amazing team. From day one I was made welcome. I feel like a valuable member to the Wigan team and love my job.

Pros

Free lunch Fridays.

Cons

none

Job exactly as described

Hours to suit your own needs, office staff are very flexible if something was to crop up and you needed to alter a shift, they always help the best where the can. Always found all the office staff polite and friendly, I always pull up a chair when I go in as the are bike to be around. They look after the customers well, have amazing carers and the standard of care expected by carers is by far the best I have seen

Avoid Alcido

They sell a happy history but is not true, most of the carers and really nice but the management team is the problem, you never get the hours needed at least you do 7 days a week. No travel time between calls but they expect you to be always on time and is not realistic, if you are a walker is the same issue but worse (45/30 minutes walking between calls with no travel time). I feel in peace since I left alcedo

Pros

Good carers

Cons

Everything else

Avoid working here

Started off nice but managers don’t give you the hours you need or expect you to work 7 days in order to get your hours in. The pay seems good an hour but when you get down to it is rubbish. No support and managers and other carers play favourites to staff members they’re friends with and help them out and give them what they want and leave you. Adding or removing calls at the last minute or having large gaps in calls so you aren’t earning any money in that time. Don’t get me wrong some staff were lovely but I’d avoid working here if you want a balanced home and work life and want support from managers and colleagues without being made to feel guilty.

Pros

‘Some’ friendly staff

Cons

No support from anyone

AVOID - sold a good story and a healthy pay packet.. NOT WORTH IT

AVOID!!! This company will run you in to the ground.. you work from home every evening with no extra pay.. they expect all your time and when you feel down and I’ll because of it, your forced to resign. No support from higher management to how you feel and the fact there is no staff.. If you want any self control or outside life I would 100% stay away from applying for this role!

Cons

Long hours no extra pay, no life.

Awful

You can work all the hours god sends for this company and the minute you say no they throw you to the wolves. Despite always covering sickness and taking on additional The company create a Poor work life balance. Provide no security and have a Constant change over in staff due to the way they are treated. client needs always put to the bottom of the pile. The company portray themselves as one of the best in the homecare sector and portray themselves to be 'family orientated' bur truth be told, they do not care about thier staff nor client. Money talks.

Pros

Building relationships with clients

Cons

Having to endure the way the company is ran from branch to branch

Only one star as can't give a zero

Went for the interview. Got offered a job and accepted it. Did training but couldn't do the last day due to a death in the family. Yes I didn't get back straight away. Ended up getting a email they withdrew the job offer! Avoid

Fantastic company to work for

I have worked for Alcedo Care since February 2023. Since then I have been welcomed into a fantastic team at the Wirral Branch. Alcedo Care is an exciting place to work and I am very excited to continue my career with them. I have been very lucky to be enrolled into an NVQ Level 3 where I will learn health and social career to help with progression. All funded by the company. The company has dedicated professionals who help deliver the best care for clients - supporting independence and saving lives. I am excited to see where the future leads with Alcedo Care.

Pros

Career Progression, Free Lunch on Fridays, Company Benefits

Unprofessional and childlike environment.

Recruiter for wirral branch wasn't clear on details regarding the package I was originally employed for, was misleading regarding the wage. The company advertised for a job that wasn't ready to start. Paid 3-4 hours pay for an 8 hour shift with constant gaps in the domiciliary runs. Situation explained to head office but this was ignored. Company have their carers working for free and believe this is acceptable. The worst company I have possibly ever worked for, and staff in head office are an embarrassment.

Pros

You get to leave at the end of the day

Official response from Alcedo Care

14 September 2023
We’re sorry that your employment didn’t work out with us however we feel this is an unfair assessment of your experience here.In terms of staffing packages “not ready to start” it is common practice for us to staff packages before they begin, particularly in the case of our complex care clients. This is in the best interest of our clients as it ensures we have the number of staff needed, with the right skill set and fit for the client.Whilst not always the case, it’s the nature of our industry that we may sometimes have gaps in some of our runs. This is largely out of our control, and can be due to clients having a change in circumstances, going into hospital or even sadly passing away. This isn’t something our head office team will be able to change. When we do experience gaps in runs we endeavour to communicate this as clearly as possible to staff and did in fact hold staff meetings to go through this. Our carers are paid for call times plus mileage between packages. We always aim to be open and honest with our staff around shifts and available packages. We wish you all the best and hope you find what you are looking for elsewhere.

Valued for your work

I've worked in care for 10 years and can honestly say I have felt more valued in the last two years with Alcedo than in the previous 8 with any other employer. I feel like my knowledge and skills are challenged in the best possible way and Alcedo strive to help you stand out and achieve more! Alcedo truly care about the quality of care they provide.

No better than a care home

High management/staff turnover, management guilt trip people into covering shifts, lots of miscommunication between management & carers. Very us vs them. Will have ppl working 24+ with 2hrs sleep in between

Stay away

I got accepted for this job, paid for a DBS, completed 30+ hours of training to be told that i wasn't going to get paid for this until i had worked over 50 hours, this had thrown me into the mud as i have a baby that i need to provide for, i nearly had my car insurance cancelled and now our electricity is close to being gancelled. The way this company deals with everything is absolutely disgusting and i would not recommend anyone to work here at all

Pros

None

Cons

The whole company
