Store Assistant in Walton-on-the-Naze

Fast and Stressful
Be prepared to work fast and hard. No matter how hard you work, they will always expect more from you. But if you get a good store team it can be quite rewarding working there.

Not worth the stress
More mature staff are held to same standard as younger e.g youre given 4 minutes (yes that's FOUR) to unpack, display, condense and rotate two or more 6ft high palettes of bread. Even the teenagers struggled!EVERYTHING is timed, even if given three jobs to do at same time you need to meet timings set or will be written up. No excuses, not even the fact you can possibly be in three places at once.Scanning targets are so stressful, customers dither and take their time, while you're sat mentally pulling your hair out about how its affecting your scan time. We were told that keeping queues down and scanning at the speed of light kept prices down for customers. But when I asked different management how, none of them could give a specific reason why or how this worked. Constantly yelled at about queues (not allowed 3 people passed till). You never get out on time, close was at 10pm, officially finish 10.30 pm after tidying store (which was super stressful with more timed targets), eventually would leave around 11pm because there was never enough time/people to do the work.Had a great team and a couple of managers were lovely, but overall you were expected to deliver the impossible.Awful place to work. Do not recommend.

Terrible
Terrible place to work. You are Treated like an animal. No respect and worked into the ground doing the same boring job day in day out with zero chance to progress or better yourself. Zero work life balance no finish time some days you could be working 6 hours other days you could be working 12 , one weekend off in 3 if your lucky. This place is a hole don’t work here there’s plenty of other better jobs out there
