An okay place to work. Good pay. Management could be better. Good training for apprenticeships if you want to work towards becoming a manager. Keep you busy!

Productive

One of the best company’s to work for in retail. It is tough going but it it very rewarding at the same time. It is a faced paced environment so your day goes in very quickly.

Quite boring but its a decent workplace

Would appreciate mental health benefits, especially as the job can be draining and boring especially if oure working on till for 10 hour shifts(you only get 30 mins break) and hours are usually messy and dont fit contract hours due to being short-staffed etc

Fast paced

Fast paced and heavily target based. If you are not looking to be pressured and be in a fast paced environment then it will not be for you. Management only care about hitting targets

Fun place to work

Can be a really fun place to work with a good team days fly by some shifts not so much, they are flexible with shifts tho, sometimes seems like its same thing day after but its not, progression is hard to get tho even with qualifications

Pros

Vast majority

Cons

Hard to get promoted

Horrible place to work

Non stop hard word for years. Praised by management but they soon sack you to make way for the automatic tills that never work. Corporate machine that doesn’t care about staff

Great job. Hard work

I worked for 16 years. After all those years I couldn’t do it anymore, it’s hard work. Not for the faint hearted. It killed me in the end.it may have changed now, I was there at the best of times

Pros

Great people, team work

Cons

Very hard work

Toxic, mental health support non existent as long as your in they don't care if your fit

Worked for aldi for many years. Good to start with, but things changed! Management don't Care how you are, don't help you and apply more pressure on you. Lazy people get what they want hard workers are brought down. Don't value there staff. Lack of confidentiality, no one to turn to when you need help no support at all. Once your trained on tills that's all you will do is sit on a till for 10 hours a day. Good money but not worth your mental health, being treated like garbage. It's no wonder why they can't get or keep staff

Hard laboured job

This is very physical hard laboured job. There are a lot favouritism. They want you work super hard and lighting pace. They will threaten you fire you at probation if you dont work hard

Pros

Good Pay

Cons

Long hours

Toxic culture if your face doesn’t fit

On paper the job is great. But workplace bullying from higher management, zero support to learn and develop. Staff in all store levels are stressed and burnt out. All salaried expected to work on days off and only get time in Leiu which you cannot take back as no staff cover.Must be contactable on days off for updates Hours change without notice.Expected to return to work at full steam following bereavement, or hospital stays. No phased return to work options or support.

Pros

Pay competitive

Cons

Long hours, lack of consistency, bullying, no training

The first year and a half at Aldi was brilliant port Glasgow is a fantastic store to work in the staff are brilliant very welcoming and fun to work with however the last six months were completely the opposite working with people who feel they have a right to be demeaning and superior even though they are still just a store assistant managers talking about you or complaining behind your back because one day you didn’t go fast enough

Fun place to work, great work-life balance

I only worked there for a month as a part of their covid relief contract. I learnt a lot! my coworkers and mangers where kind and patient giving me help when I needed it. The benefits are great and working there flies by, easily worked 10hr shifts no problem. The hardest part would be meeting the time requirements to get a pallet out, date rotate, pull forward and card in 30mins woth minimal put backs (1-3 at most). I really enjoyed working there as I said the benefits and pay are great 👍, able to work 2-3 10hr shifts then the rest of the week free for family and friends. Staff where overall very supportive would recommend working there!

Pros

Great work-life balance, great pay, communication, training, great work environment

Cons

Gotta be able to learn fast and work under time constraints.

Mysoginistic

My time at working at Aldi made me feel more drained and depressed than I have ever felt in any other jobs. I didn’t feel like I had anyone that understood me or was happy to support me. I felt unfairly treated and inhumane.

Professional, fun, energetic culture

I was keen to join Aldi and experience how they have disrupted UK supermarket retail. Having read reviews about the Area Manager position I naturally joined with a little underlying apprehension as many former employees post negative reviews, however I have found the contrary. There is a really supportive and extremely welcoming culture which is felt from day 1, between Area Managers and their superiors and in the stores. Anyone who understands retail will not be surprised at early starts, expectations of pace, efficiency and hard work you'll put in particularly during your in store training. You aren't being asked to work harder than store employees and you are treated and rewarded well for your work. Anyone joining expecting a 9-5 office job surely wouldn't have a genuine retail passion. If more people outside of Aldi knew the culture within, I believe many would be keen to make the move, and it is one I would recommend.

Okay workplace long hours

I get on with my coworkers well, but there is a lot of work to do and it is very physically exhausting. I’ve been here 5 years and I would just rate the company as okay
