I have worked for aldi for the last 7 years. I started as an apprentice in 2013 and progressed to deputy manager withing 3 years in which I have now fulfilled the same role for the last 4 years moving around different stores. It is a very rewarding business to work for they look after there staff with good benefits excellent pay and good opportunities to progress.

Pros

Good pay, lots of hours, progression opportunities

Cons

Work until late at night

Slave labour

No appreciation from people above you, worked far too hard for the amount of money paid. Expected to have no life and work at the drop of a hat, some of the store managers are absolutely awful

Cons

No appreciation

Poor organisation to work for

Working for ALDI was a really stressful time. Not only would the management team demand more of you than you were physically capable of, they would often reduce your hours below your contracted hours.Management were unsupportive and unsympathetic on mental health issues and the culture was very stressful and showed very little interest in providing sufficient training or development.

Productive and fast-paced environment

Excellent company to work for from the top to the bottom. Fast-paced, always work to be done and the definite option for progression if that’s what you desire. Only downside is that hours can be long, especially around busy times such as Christmas and you’ll work most weekends and evenings.

Pros

Paid breaks, good environment, fast paced & good hierarchy

Cons

Long hours, weekends & evenings

Joke

Aldi always say they are the best payer just! they pay 5p more then anyone else and demand a lot more out of you. Haven't had a pay rise for 4 years keep giving u a £250 tax free bonus yearly. They advise they were giving staff a 10% bonus thru C-19 about £1 per hour you worked but you lost 10 hours a week

All about money and not wellbeing

They don't care for your wellbeing and understand your life choices. They have good pay, and extra pay for managers. You are expected to do too much, which causes injuries, stress, fatigue etc.

hardwork but the shifts go quick

I had many good days and some days whilst working for aldi. If you enjoy your weekends off you can forget about it as you have to work every weekend. However the salary and the speed at which your work compensates for this somewhat.

Great place to work but hard and stressful job

As a store assistant id say if you're willing to work hard its great. Not a job for lazy people. As management very stressful and to much is expected of 1 person. Salary is great cant find a job that beats it but you work hard for your money.

Hard work

Aldi culture was poor. Very little staff loyalty. I worked extremely hard for 7 years to receive very few benefits. The salary was great though to be fair.

High expectations, low rewards

Aldi may seem like a win considering the market leading salaries; however with no split departments the work load is considerably higher than the wage. You're expected to do 4 people's work in the same time slot and the pay does not reflect this. Deputy managers run the store while ASMs and store managers reep the rewards, the higher up the management ladder you are, the less you work and the more you're paid

Stressful and Fast paced

It is more than stacking up shelves. It is a very demanding job, especially physical work. The culture of the company is in development. Working hours include weekends.

You are paid a good wage

You are paid a good wage for a reason. You basically work as 2 members of staff doing twice the work load. Managers are stressed and struggling with the work load. Best thing I did was leave, although it is hard to take the wage cut.

Not as good as people think

Can be a decent place to be if its run by a decent manager. Pay is good for retail and you can make good use of your holiday entitlemen if you're savvy enough. I wouldn't advise going into lower management as you just get grief from all angles above and below you. Lots of unscrupulous people always trying to get one over on you so be aware. Also most shifts are really understaffed, just so the manager can pick up their monthly productivity bonus.

Excellent salary and benefits but really fast paced

Honestly Its great company to work for as they give loads of benefits and industry leading retail salary. Job can be very demanding and fast paced multitasking essential part of job , you must be hardworking and good at problem solving and productive.

Good Money

Great money on night shifts but very demanding and underappreciated. Could do the morning shifts work before they're in aswell as your own jobs and it's almost as if it's expected.
