A victim of it's own success mostly felt by staff members
Aldi has started small in the UK but in the recent years they have grown and expanded greatly. What started as a productivity focused operation in stores, meaning a small team of staff would run the daily operations of a store has soon turned into a slightly bigger team of staff running the store. This means: long hours with high demands on physical stock work, always feeling you are understaffed as there are just a few members of staff dealing with it all, productivity demands rising every year while also being expected to meet customer service requirements that align with all the other big retail names that Aldi is trying to compete with. It can be challenging, hard on the social life and mentally draining but if you get to connect with your team it could feel it's worth it. If not it can be frustrating, feeling unappreciated or overworked as the corporate retail sector can do to some people. Furthermore, managers can be subjective about members of staff putting pressure on them that they are not willing to put on themselves or other members of staff. If you work hard they will work you even harder while if you're not that good really you will be brushed aside and forgotten behind a till. Area managers will most of the time look down on you or treat you like an idiot, giving you a fake retail smile all the time. If people find it a pro the good payment, please consider that most retailers pay around the same amount now, all other ones will give you staff benefits. Aldi will make you feel like you worked for every penny of your money, with a bit of extra work on top.

All employees have a varied role with expectations and targets set high. A tough job that gives you a sense of achievement if you work hard and achieve targets.
Pros
Good work ethic and good rates of pay.

Long hours and work/life balance.
