Good pay for cleaning but you really earn it!

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
As an after school cleaner the location and hours were perfect, the small team were friendly the cleaning supervisor and day caretaker pleasant and everything provided including full uniform.Happy days! For 4yrsWork was hard but quite relaxed, it felt like you were also part of the school “family “You had enough time to clean thoroughly and the supervisor also cleanedHowever changes made affected working conditions and morale.Cleaning supervisor left was never replaced so more workload - extra 2.5 cleaning between 4 remaining cleaners and as a consequence standards of cleaning droppedI decided to leave as felt totally unsupported by managers in the year that the new day caretaker arrived and felt destroyed mentally by thisSoon after I left the remaining 3 of my friends quit too as unbearable conditions My new job is a pleasant change by contrast feel I am listened to respected and supportedin my opinion this company don’t care for minimum wage staff

Pros

Good wage and uniform supplied

Cons

Management totally unsupportive - them and us mentality- cleaners lowest of low

Not very good company at all

This company is full of promises they just can’t deliverNo career progression lack of any guidance unless you ask repeatedly and be a pest Only staff they seem to pay attention to are the naughty onesEven though they want you to write reviews pointless as they will not pay any mind to it even if the contract is sinking

Pros

Can’t really think of anything

Cons

The list is endless

Good job

Some very good work mates and some of the direct above you managers are helpful and supportive.the main problem is the higher management they are not people people and they are not nice people telling the lower managers how to treat the workforce, thankfully they don't do it as they know it's not right.

Pros

Some good work colleagues

Cons

Stress from main managers

Waste management driver

Full of rules and regulations and health and safety. However the health and safety aspect is only when it suits the management to implement it . On a day to day basis we are expected to break most health and safety rules, and when accidents occur they dont look after you at all.Anyone who is I'll is punished for their absence by being given awful duties on their return.Management dont care

Pros

Salary and pension

Cons

Dirty and dangerous, management lack on their dity of care

Interview

they are REJECTING candidates even if you fit to the position and have years of relevant experience. They require documents, cover letters, and answer for questions but no one care about your application

Cons

Waste of time

co workers that have never worked anywhere else dont realise how great Amey is

typical day would involve lorry checks, works briefing, loading work onto a PDA.drive to first job and then carry on etc.so many of the staff spend all day banging on about the good ol council days when they would get paid for doing the least amount of work.you can see the frustration in the supervisors trying to get staff to do a job that they are paid (and paid well) to do.old staff always moan about managers but if you just get on with your work they are fine.staff seem to moan but they are the ones that have never worked in any other work environment and if they did they wouldnt last 5 minutes. if Amey got rid of the dead wood they would see a vast improvement in production.i would highly recommend working for Amey as long as you dont get drawn into the old workers mentality

Pros

being home for no later than half 3 every day

Cons

working in bad weather

Good,friendly company to work for

I started working for amey after a bad experience with bulloughs cleaning.I went to amey thinking it would be similar after my old manager said my new place was awful to work for.How wrong was she.My new manager is nice and helpful and everyone is so friendly.I actually don't mind going to work.Ive met some good friends there. Can honestly say not one person is awful and definitely not misserable like the bulloughs lot.

Pros

Friendly colleagues/management

Cons

I'm quite busy, but not all departments are the same.

Great place to work.

You manage your workload from day to day. We are expected to work across many platforms on a daily basis and travel around to other sites.it's a relaxed environment so you don't have to were a tie and the working hours are flexible. No day was the same, working as an IT engineer you are expected to resolve issues and can be from server to smartboard issue. So every day was a challenge.

Pros

free proper coffees

Cons

The perks were too expensive

Enjoyable mostly

Contract came to an end and was made redundant. Would not be a problem if given chance to work for them again.really well looked after when made redundant and all avenues investigated to keep experienced staff employed.

Pros

Left me alone to cmplete my tasks there if needed

Cons

Lost contract to other company's

Current cleaner

The management is the worst, very unorganised. Love the job, employees and the staff at school. I wouldnt reccomend, too much pressure and work load for 3hrs 15min. The amount of new staff we get and then decide to leave not long after is ridiculous. We tell management things but they never listen. Manager and supervisor dont like helping us just gets dumped on cleaners. Use old cleaners to do covering to save themselves or company money.

Pros

Decent holidays

Cons

Stressful too much work load in the hours

Worst place to work

Absolutely hated working here. Management is very bad, there is little to no training, the software does not work properly and you're treated badly and get spoken to as if you are nothing. High staff turnover probably due to the nasty environment and constant criticism. The stress of this place is not worth it, please do not waste your time.

Pros

Leaving

Cons

Everything

No real progression

No real progression, different salaries for the same job role. Is quite relaxed working place basically no one is bothered and that’s the issue. It is a good company to work for health and safety wise you’re never put in harms way, but it quite long winded to get training and the main thing is the salary’s aren’t the same and I mean 5-6 grand different.

Excellent

My career at Amey was mostly excellent, however one Line manager who came into the company , recruited friends who did not meet the job criteria and were treated with kid glove, throughout her tenure.

Ok to work for but works all over the place

Management dont utilize the men properly and the planning of work is here there and everywhere, good salary earnings, not much chance to progress, training is ok and it's a face fits culture.

Worst company ever !

I tupe'd to Amey when they took over a contract, I literally hated every minute I worked at Amey, a combination of terrible management, asked to do 5 "near misses a week" but they couldn't be real incidents, horrible culture, lying , using trackers on vehicles to spy on people, just shocking don't know how anyone stays there!

Dont even apply if you have half a brain

They don't like folk who can think for themselves, management perhaps should actually have experienced the job first, or atleast have an idea how to manage
