Easy work
Electrician (Former Employee) - Stockton-on-Tees, Durham - 2 November 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedThe work at Amey HMP Holme house isnt difficult it would suit someone either just starting out in the electrical industry or looking to retire in a few years. The pay isnt great, it is well below par for your trade and if you dont negtiate your pay you will not get a pay rise ever. Even with the 15% top up they offer your wage is still well be low par. You will also be expected to work bank holidays, christmas, new year if it doesnt land on your rest days at no extra pay. You work 1 in 3 weekends which your are not aloud to put holidays in for but you do get 1 day off (monday) the week of the weekend and off the week after your weekend (Friday) working 10 days on the trot.
Pros
Easy work
Cons
Working christmas and bank holidays, low wage

I enjoyed working at Drummond high school. The job wasn’t hard to do some people that work for amey make it difficult to do the job. The hours are long and finishing at 10pm is why I left. I would watch out for one for two people that work here.

Stressful and toxic
Cleaner (Former Employee) - Cleaner - 21 October 2023
I am a former employee, I would like to say I would recommend amey but the place where I worked was toxic, The managers are quite prepared to let manager who have no people skills speak and treat you how they want . Speak to the people above they do not want to know as well . In all it is a company gone from bad to worse over the last 3years
Pros
Nothing
Cons
Ok if you want your health issues worsening

Stay clear no matter what
HGV Class 1 Driver (Current Employee) - Dundee - 15 October 2023
A very clique atmosphere in every depot they’ve employed a lot of people that have no clue about the business and these people are on the same money as the ones that are experienced..so you have to do your job plus carry the deadbeats and absolutely nothing is done about it your required to be available day and night (maybe a week of days then week of nights) be on call 24/7 for a week at a time no family life (as falsely advertised) there’s a lot of sitting about in canteens for days at a time until work comes in which can be very tedious basic pay is terrible for a 39 hour week nightshift pay is atrocious at time and a quarter year salary for class 1 Hgv drivers is £25k (after Covid average class 1 jobs advertised are paying £30-£40k+ a year) If it’s advertised as a hgv position but you will very seldom drive a hgv(unless your out with a gritter)and will be a general labourer instead STAY CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY they always have an advertisement posted for positions this alone is the first red flag

Cons
Long boring days doing nothing

Some good people at the company yet they have no prospects due to nepotism

Watching corrupt people in action and being powerless to stop them What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Corrupt in almost every aspect of the projects they are involved in What is a typical day like for you at the company? Very stressful due to the corrupt manner that business gets conducted

Great People
HR Advisor (Current Employee) - Liverpool, Merseyside - 5 September 2023
Really good working atmosphere, good integration between teams. People always offering support, available online most of the time. Have access to people higher up if you have any queries, genuine open door policy from management. Lots of opportunity to join new projets.

Wasn't a bad place to work, seems to be a lack of professional boundaries between the manger and some of their employees. Favouritism!
Refuse Loader (Former Employee) - Woking - 2 September 2023
You walks about 15miles a day, so you need to be physically capable. Being outside definitely good for the mental side of things. Don't get involved in politics over bins. Some work colleagues where amazing and very supportive but than there sre others that will throw you under the bus and never to be trust. Pay is good, hours are good, early start but you get use to it.
Pros
Pay, hours
Cons
Manager of the yard

Bad place to work
Street Lighting Electrician (Former Employee) - Walsall - 26 August 2023
Lunatics run the asylum here. Management to scared to challenge certain workers. Heavy handed from senior management over minor infringement resulted in a final written warning for 18 months. Change for the benfits of the workers never happen but as soon as it for the office its instantaneous and at a greater cost to the company
Cons
Long hours Not enough blokes for the work taken on Low pay compared to other contracts

Not a good place to work
Street Cleaner (Former Employee) - Camberley - 24 July 2023
Management are the main problem here , do the job how and when they want or you get sacked , don’t care about you as a person, you are just a number. Work is easy enough but stressful.

Great place for snakes
Refuse Driver (Former Employee) - Woking, Surrey - 5 March 2023
Some routes are good, others not so good, but all drivers earn the same salary, from experience it was stressful, I always wanted to do my job with excellence but some companies they don't deserve, they just suck all your energy, without appreciation.
Pros
Normally 6am to 3pm
Cons
Bad rates

Job and knock
Driver (Former Employee) - Wythenshawe, Cheshire - 11 January 2023
Really good hours and the lads you work with are an absolute laugh. Left alone by management. Trucks could do with a bit of TLC but other than that I can’t fault Amey. Overtime there all the time and Bank holiday pay is mega.
