Typical day - You will be stood at a bench all day (minus breaks) using manual, electrical and pneumatic tools to assemble a variety of electrical components manufactured by Mardix and other third party companies. What I have learned - Nothing from any management however my team leaders are very helpful but seem to be overwhelmed, running around 'putting out fires' as one might say. Management - They appear to live in their own little bubble and come across as very rude and have a demeaning attitude and like to belittle anyone below them. The managers that I have met all appear to show zero people skills and shout very loudly which shows a lot about them as follows;1)Poor coping skills - It is their go-to coping mechanism in difficult situations. 2)Loss of control - they feel a loss of control over the situation.3)Feeling threatened - Bullies are often people who have a very sensitive core emotional psyche and they are trying to protect that core. Anytime they think this core is being threatened they react. Shouting is one tool that they proactively use anytime they feel threatened.4)Aggressiveness - They need to control their anger, I recommend anger management classes.5)It's a learned behaviour - They haven’t learned proper coping behaviours when they are faced with conflict and difficult situations. Shouting has always been their go-to reaction to situations in which they find any sort of turmoil.6)They feel neglected - They shout because they feel no one is listening to them so they resort to raising their voice instead of holding a private intellectual conversation - more...
very easy work
unhealthy working environment
I would avoid working for Anord Mardix. The Human Resource Dept are puppets to the directors. If you can go elsewhere do so. They are a international company in name only. Do NOT trust them!!!!
Cheap image wear.
Dont work here if you have soul as the management will destroy it. Breaks are 7 or 8 mins long because you are expected to be back at your bench before the buzzer goes.people are bullied and forced into doing overtime if you dont do 60+ hours a week you are made to feel worthless. No social distancing measures whatsoever. People are made to share ppe. Avoid this place at all costs.
Managers who haven't a clue about the industry who order people about to get the result they want whether or not its the correct way or not. 100 mile/hour to get the job out just for it to go into storage. People who don't know what they are doing hide behind experienced people and take credit for their hard work. You only get a promotion if you have been there for a short time and know nothing. If your a 'YES MAN' and don't know what you are doing you will certainly go far. If you are knowledgeable or experienced stay clear. Health and safety not sure this company knows what that is. Put it this way if you work at ANORD MARDIX you have had a magical vaccine that you didn't know you had taken because they think that everyone is immune that works on the factory floor. Only seem to have care for the office staff when it comes to covid-19, oh sorry they try to care about the floor staff when HSE turns up to do a review. Look up the word lie in the dictionary and it's says ANORD MARDIX underneath it. They advertise people jobs and offer more money to people coming in off the street who know nothing. I honestly can only say that the best thing there is the banter is good between the guys on the factory floor but if you get caught laughing you get hunted down, stared at for god knows how long and some body will get one of their minions to come and try to give you a wording to instill fear on the factory floor. If people wanted to have that atmosphere they would have attended school in the 1920's. The spying is horrendous its like these guys have camo that blends into panels you only - more...
Can't think of any
They use overtime as an incentive, If you are not working as soon as the buzzer goes you are a marked man.
I have worked here for a few years now and its one of the best places i have worked. Very fast pace with tight deadlines but great teamwork and effort is involved to make sure it happens. Management on the shopfloor keep the workload moving and are an asset to the company with their determination and knowledge to see the right people are on the right job at the time. Pay is better than average working conditions are good, In the more recent COVID times everything was put into place to keep the factory running whilst maintaining social distancing and keeping their staff safe which was of high importance.
Good work/home life balance
Parking can sometimes be an issue so i use my bike
Busy, fast-paced environment but a great place to work. There are plenty of opportunities to progress and move within the company. Everything regarding COVID was done quickly and effectively with the employees wellbeing in mind.
Not a great deal of good to say about this place really, apart from DONT, take a job here! There is a reason why the staff turn over is high, they can’t keep decent people and people don’t last or stay very long, they are forced out, or their lives are made unbearable and that’s usually done by the office staff and the managers. You will only succeed here if your face fits, and don’t have a life outside of workIf you have any sense, you would avoid at all costs.
Contribution to pension
Everything from HR down to the managers
I work at the Kendal factory and the place is a shambles. Training lasted for half a day then expected to be making 6 bars a day. Team leaders are useless and can’t organise anything. Expected to be at your bench all day and hit their targets when you spend half your day searching for things that should be ready for you. The wages are rubbish. Absolutely no social distancing for COVID-19. Expected to share tools. It’s so unorganised in the factory I’m surprised they even make any money. The senior management have no idea how badly the shop floor is run. Mardix should invest in their employees, give them a fair wage and give them proper training.
Wages, team leaders, management
Kendal factory...The main problem is the management!! You are constantly getting moved around the factory... You get zero training on machines... Some of the workers have massive potential at mardix but get over looked... You've got team leaders who cant speak English. you've got team leaders high on drugs each day.... Can only blame myself for the mistake of working for these cowboys.... 6Months wasted currently working here whilst awaiting new start date.

Jobs at Anord Mardix
all these people slating the management, well, they are management for a reason, they are doing the job they are employed to do just like any other employee. everyone (no matter what they say) goes to work to earn money. A great place to work at, yes may be stressful at times but get over it!! very successful company that employ people that want to succeed just like they have....employed UK WS1 on lasers and punch (and anything else for A.M to work) :)
Would not recommend this place to anyone, Training - none existent, H&S out the window Managers - don’t know what they are doing Pay - what a joke Hours - bullied into overtime Work load - depends if you get any Office staff - rude and obnoxious you will only go far in this place if you are liked
This place is micro managed on a seriously bad level, you only progress if your face fits, and live in Kendal, the workload is horrendous, and half the time managers cut corners, your wage will depend on who you know literally, and as for progression there is absolutely none, unless your one of the favourites. There falseness of some of the managers comes apparent very very quickly. Any one is the right mind would avoid this place, work life balance is none existent, and training well there is absolutely none. It’s a joke of a place.
Early Friday Finish
Everything horrible organisation to be a part of
Avoid this place at all costs, bad management, low rates of pay, no loyalty towards long serving members of staff and pension scheme is bare minimum, like everything else in this place. The sooner this place get a union in the better...... Do your self a favour and get a job at a decent company that will look after you.
After working for other engineering company's i decided i needed a change and applied for a job at AnordMardix. O how i wish i didn't. The work itself is great, although repetitive it does vary and keeps you thinking. The staff on the factory floor come from all walks of life which makes for a good laugh. This does have a negative as the lack of knowledge of the work and industry does show quite prominently. The management has the same issues, they have worked their way up through the company, not through experience and knowledge but through making nice with the "right" people. The management use old fashioned ways of managing, they stand and watch you and make you feel uncomfortable, they use the security cameras to monitor you where they can't see. The factory floor staff are in the process of setting up a union to help their situation and have been threatened with sackings. The office staff have come from different walks of life again none from within the industry, although there are a few highly qualified individuals who prop up the company their opinions are often over-ruled by less qualified members of management. Most of the staff in the office have no qualification in an engineering field. There is also a big divide within the company being a "them and us" environment between factory floor and office, often basic manners being ignored. The pay structure is erratic at best with no one person being paid the same or starting on the same wage. If you are a young person or an apprentice the starting wage is very good and you'll have more money than you know what to - more...
Can walk into town for lunch
Pay is two decades out of date.
I have no issues with the company but the variable salary is a serious issue that they are in no wish to fix. This is making people feel seriously under appreciated and as a result look for work else where. Mardix could be great if it fixed the salaries.
