Not good
Driver (Current Employee) - Heywood, Greater Manchester - 10 July 2023
Too much thrown on drivers with unrealistic ETA's give you 1 min to take a washing machine off the van unpack and inspect and take in to customer's home and take scrap out and place on van and strap up. Routes are created at night so eta's don't count for daytime traffic. more scrap and collections early in the day so still have full van so expect you to take scrap off the van to make delivery. wage no that good for what you have to do just over min wage..

Dreadful at best
Driver (Former Employee) - Crewe, Cheshire - 23 June 2023
Totally Soul destroying, back stabbing politics and drivers are treated like their lives don't matter. Absolutely no value of the employees, utter disgrace.

Good for a new pass
HGV Class 1 Driver (Current Employee) - Crewe, Cheshire - 15 May 2023
The work is easy but if you want a work life balance it isn't going to happen unless you are lucky and get on the 4 on 4 off shift pattern. Mainly nights and not many opportunities for days.

Waste of time
3.5t Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Basildon, Essex - 1 April 2023
On the face of things, it didn't look too bad, but then lack of a depot manager for 6+ months, and constant changes in the way they want things done just made the job unbearable.

Great places to see
Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Leeds, West Yorkshire - 31 March 2023
pay is not the best, they can give you better pay for the work we do, heavy lifting is involved so have to be fit, staff and all are friendly, vans are decent.

3.5t Delivery Driver (Current Employee) - Peterborough, Cambridgeshire - 10 March 2023
Multi drop work delivering household appliances, some jobs can be a pain but normally find a workaround, benefits ain't too bad. Worst aspect is delivering American fridge freezers

Jobs at AO-Drivers
Horrible
Driver (Current Employee) - United Kingdom - 14 February 2023
You end up spending more time unloading scrap trying to get to your next appliance and no tail lift so your back gets it, damage is took out your pocket even if it was damaged before it was on your van. No organisation skills from office. Just a bad place to work. If run says 10 hours but it takes 12 because of the unloading or the weather conditions you get 10 hours.

Good job but long hours heavy lifting
Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Glasgow, Glasgow - 10 February 2023
Great job in a lot of ways but very tiring and can be stressful basically installing in disconnecting a wide range of appliances such as washing machines fridges etc can be a fun job but also tiring

The job is great but management ruin it with the toxic atmosphere
Delivery and installation (Current Employee) - Dundee - 24 January 2023
The job itself is great. Love driving around Scotland meeting new people. They pay below national minimum wage. No intentions of even trying to pay us fairly in Dundee when all other depos get 10ph and above. We get 9ph. The job could end tomorrow. Promises of a bonus every week which you never see. You work extra and are told to invoice for extras then 90% of the time you don't get it. Very cliquey place. The jobs great but you work your socks off and they couldn't care less. If you're ill or have family problems and can't manage in to work you are taken off the road as punishment. No holiday pay. It's a shame because it's a great job in itself. The revolving door just keeps on spinning. They don't look after you. No union.

Very heavy loads…..can are not great…..no time to do job in allocated time…don’t take into account if you have to take appliances up-stairs!!!!….all in all not a great place to work

Big con
Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Crawley, West Sussex - 24 November 2022
They don't provide payslips so you have no idea what you are being paid for. If you are given an 8hr job but do not finish within that period you do not get paid for extra hrs. Too many American fridge freezers which take 3 times longer than the time you are given. Disgraceful company with no empathy or concern.
Pros
None
Cons
Long hrs with extremely heavy loads and you have to pay for your own tools.

Awful place to work
Driver/Fitter (Former Employee) - Coventry, West Midlands - 8 November 2022
Vans not loaded, waiting around, unpaid for taking and unloading scrap appliances, constantly shuffling around load whilst trying to catch up with unrealistic time schedules. All equates to you working for free. You only get paid for the scheduled run from delivery of 1st item until delivery of last item. All other tasks including to and from location and the hour every shift unloading scrap from your van to loading your scrap on to the articulated scrap lorry are unpaid. I thought this was unfair but its their policy.

Worked at far better places
Delivery Driver (Former Employee) - Crewe, Cheshire - 22 April 2022
Went into work every day without fail with absolutely no problems, did every job to the best of my ability. However arriving to work one morning and the van had a puncture. Waited for that to be fixed (2 hours) and went out with the 10 hour run, tried to fail a delivery for an American Fridge freezer due to being given 12 minutes to complete the job, and it needing doors to be taken off which would take around an hour, with already being 2 hours behind. Depot organised for another crew to sort it out, we finished the run and got back at 19:30. And the very next day got told that they wouldn’t need my services anymore because of that ONE delivery out of 100’s of great delivery’s.
