Insights into Apex Prime Care
What people like
- Energising work tasks
- Inclusive work environment
- Clear sense of purpose
Job itself is great but lack of support from management
Care Assistant (Current Employee) - Bournemouth, Dorset - 7 November 2023
Working on the road is great, meeting clients, different people everyday, but this keeps things fresh. However, if you need a bit of support from management, more often than not you are left on your own to figure things out and if you are unwell, you will be told you have to still work

Has put me off care work companies
Care coordinator (Former Employee) - Worthing, West Sussex - 25 October 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Absolutely nothing. The care coordinator job was just an excuse to get more carers. A totally disorganised company What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Having to travel 10 miles to do a full care call at 7am - I was a employed as a coordinator, not a carer!!! What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Rushed, insincere and panicky. Office staff pleasant when not out caring What is a typical day like for you at the company? Being a carer as opposed to a coordinator

Loved the job but not the company
Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Portsmouth, Hampshire - 15 October 2023
The rotas weren’t good, you would get SU’s who were 45 mins walk away from your last call, it didn’t seem very organised. A lot more thought could’ve gone into the rounds

Apex Weybridge
Home Care Assistant (Current Employee) - Woking - 25 July 2023
Apex has been a great company to work with, I am based at Weybridge apex, the staff are all very friendly, you can have hours to suit your personal life and more importantly pick up overtime, I have been with a company for more then 6 months now and I enjoy meeting my regular clients, I can email and pick up the phone and there is always someone there to help, You create a bond with the clients and have a weekly interaction which makes it worthwhile and you enjoy your job alot better.
Pros
Meet lots of new people
Cons
Maybe more one to one supervisions with the managers instead of the office staff.

Treated poorly and unfairly
Domiciliary Care Worker (Current Employee) - Southampton, Hampshire - 11 July 2023
Started working for apex as they brought out the original company I was working for, started off okay but gradually began to cut mine and other members of staff hours down. It felt as if we were being pushed out. They just wanted our clients not the staff. Have been treated poorly by their office staff and I am not the only one as I have spoken to multiple other employees about it. Having to leave a job I have worked for 3 years happily simply because they have cut the hours so much so that not enough money is being made. I've gone from being full time to part time with the hour cut. When offered a contracted amount of hours the best they could do for me was 10, that's not even enough for part time work which is 16 hours a week. The only good part of working here for me was the clients who I had a good relationship with and they always made work more fun. Personally would avoid.

Poor
Health Care Assistant (Current Employee) - Portsmouth - 20 April 2023
The company lies since it fits round your hours. When it done it fits round them struggle to be heard. They do not listen to your concerns now there’s too many people in the office not experience as one. Don’t know what the other one is doing causes a lot of stress and anxiety to both carers and clients, as they do not know what they are doing. Gone down the drain since they took on enthuse This company has dragged Apex down on its knees
Pros
No pros
Cons
Long hours half the pay

stressful and stretched
Area Supervisor (Former Employee) - Farnborough, Hampshire - 4 November 2022
Since Apex took over the Farnborough branch life working for them became very stressful. They lack structure and support within the team which means everyone working here is very stretched . This is because the way they run as a agency is to get maximum out of everyone for the minimal money. Cutting office jobs and refusing to replace to save money has made it harder to work at this branch, leaving us all stretched. Care team are not recognised enough as care professionals but they are paid above average for care in the community. Unfortunately they only see the care team as body’s and that they are easily replaced. This is not always the case as recruitment is very slow. Has potential to be a good care provider if only senior management would listen to their care team! I would not recommend working here as other agencies are offering more support, structure and the respect that carer’s deserve!

Nice to work freely but management unsupportive
Care Worker (Former Employee) - Newhaven - 10 October 2022
You don't get paid enough for the work. Management can be rude on the phone to you. They can just take all your hours away if they like. As it is only a zero hour contract.
Pros
Can work on your own
Cons
Management, pay

Nice residents
Carer (Current Employee) - Hampshire - 4 September 2022
Lovely residents but no team work, very clicky and if your face doesn't fit your left in the cold. Management ok especially if they want something 🤔

Health Care Assistant (Former Employee) - Weybridge, Surrey - 5 July 2022

Pros
Good rate of pay

No support from office and stressful
